IF you think this week didn't do anything for the qb competition you are wrong. IT may not have decided anything, but it certainly added more information to the person who makes the decisions.I am not getting riled up. I am just stating the obvious. I never thought this week would have done anything for the QB competition (which never really exists). I fully expect Mac Jones to sit at least the first few weeks or month or so no matter what Belichick thinks. I think there are a number of reasons from rookies conditioning and not used to the long NFL season which is even longer to this year to there is a benefit for Jones to sit on the sidelines for a few games and listen how McDaniels calls a game and watch the speed of the NFL games from the sidelines.
I don't care if Jones starts the season. I am just pointing out to the people who are hopeful that he will be a day one starter that they are going to be disappointed.
Oh there is a path for him. The Pats have a lot of good defensive players in the front 6, but the only ones who you want to ideally see in every situation are Judon, Hightower, Van Noy and now maybe Barmore? There is room for Uche to work his way into a heavy part of the rotation. Judon tends to play more DE than LB anyway.
Oh I don't mean they should play every snap. I mean they are the kind of players that are just so good, that you want them on the field pretty much in any situation. I think they fit that mold. It be nice of Uche could step up to be that kind of player, but I won't hold my breath. It's possible though.I would even say Van Noy and Hightower are guys you may want to spell more often than in years past, especially if you've got guys behind them you trust. So there should be plenty of snaps and opportunities for Uche to play, as long as he's healthy.

HorribleAndrews being carted off.
The nirvana state is a true rotation where the level of play is at/near the same across both the DL and LBs as rotating them to keep them fresh allows more consistency across more of the game and puts pressure on the offense which tends to keep more of the same players in place (esp. the OL).I would even say Van Noy and Hightower are guys you may want to spell more often than in years past, especially if you've got guys behind them you trust.
