At this point i'm 100% satisfied with what Mac brings to the table. My feeling is if he came into a reg season game he can run the offense with a decent level of proficiency.

Cam.....he needs to win and play well. Much higher bar to attain but that is how starting QBs need to be measured.

I expect Cam will not do one, if not both of those things eventually and Mac will start.

I think Mac will eventually start this year, but not on September 12th.

If he plays well, he deserves it. Both QBs have played well, Cam with the slightest of edges in the exhibition games.

Now if Mac starts the Giant’s game, it means Cam is the starter, probably won’t even see Cam vs the Giants, as the Pats will sit out their starters.

At some point this year, Mac will be the starter. I really don’t have faith in Cam, but if he plays well and gets the Pats to the playoffs, I’d be thrilled. It would give Mac time to learn and he’ll take care over next year. I just want the Pats to win.

You are assuming that this game will be treated like the fourth game of the preseason in previous years. Not sure if that is the case. It may be treated like game three where the starters play nearly three quarters or not at all. Who knows?

I’m 100% assuming it will be treated like game 4. You have 27 guys fighting for their roster lives. That’s what this game will be about. If Cam is the regular season starter, Mac will start, play the 1st quarter most likely against whoever the Giants put in there (probably not their starters), and then Hoyer probably plays the last 3 quarters.

No matter how they treat it, Cam Newton is guaranteed to be your opening day starter. They are currently running a full scrimmage with the Giants and Newton is the starter. That tells you all you need to know.

I guess I am just being a fan who cannot wait to see what the shiny new toy can do.

I really love the type of player Mac Jones seems to be. I was never a big fan of the super athletic QBs. I think they rely too much on their physical advantages and have a tendency not to make the smart simple play. Sure, it is VERY exciting to watch, but it is also very high risk.

I feel the same, but it's awfully hard to tease out the impact of two decades watching Tom Brady in my thought process.

Every fan base loves its shiny new toys, but Pats fans also can't help but want our shiny new toy to remind us of our shiny old toy.

Rob, chill out, at this point we have no idea still, it will be one or the other, Bill will announce it when we get closer to the actual start of the season.

Mac just got picked on a seam route to Jonnu.
