Patriots trade for WR Mohamed Sanu, for a second-round pick

Like the deal. Thought a 1st was too rich for any of the names mentioned. Now If we can just find a complementary TE to Watson.

Just because they traded a 2nd rounder doesn't mean Sanu is going to turn into Chad Jackson. He's a decent complementary receiver. He's not Julio but he's a starting WR in the NFL. Something the pats wouldn't have been able to draft in the 2nd round anyway.

I love these initial posts. OMG we need a wr we suck are o is awful we need a wr!!!!!

OMG we gave us a 2nd rounder OMG we are idiots BB is killing us what morons.

good point

To be fair there was plenty of talk from many on the forum that giving up a 2nd for Sanders was way too high......so you can imagine the surprise when a 2nd round pick was traded for a lesser talent

Brady will now have to surrender #12

this a good thing, we usually blow the second rnd pick anyway
Picks are overrated as a way of acquiring players via the draft,

Pats got Corey Dillon for a 2nd. That worked out.

Big deal.

Sanu makes sense in terms of fitting in with the NE short passing offense.

Brady wants the ball away in 2.5 seconds or less. WRs must be open and that has not been the case this season. The NE offense cannot survive on Edelman and White when the going gets rough in the near future.

Why a 2nd round for Sanu?! oh god.

And AB could be had for free ............

Oh, please.....more, more, more!!!!!!!

.

Sanu is a good addition, but we need OL help more than anything.

Might be the best use of a 2nd round pick in a while though.

Don't think of it as Sanu for a 2nd rounder, think of it as Sanu for Jordan richards, Cyrus Jones or Ras-I-Dowling. That should make you feel better!

But also seems puzzling when you consider we traded a young, franchise qb in-the-making for a second round pick.

Sanu will hopefully be way better than Gordon now.

Gordon's stats over a 16 game season would 50 catches for 750 yards with the highest yards per reception on the team. For an offense that is having OL inconsistencies, I think you're being a bit harsh. Gordon is fine, and if he comes back is a piece we can definitely use.

@Miguel, did Falcons convert a portion of Sanu's salary into bonus to lower cap hit?

Sanu's a good player who's thrived as a second or third fiddle to better players for years. With lots of comp picks, they could afford a 2nd, and Sanders wasn't going to fit under the cap.

And, you know, he's like the only Rutgers guy in the league who hadn't played for the Patriots yet.

I love Matt Chatham's tweet. If you haven't read it, basically says these guys know what they're doing. I concur

At this stage of his career age 30....he’s more like a 4!.....I guess my first question is why is Sanu so much of an upgrade over Demaryius Thomas who we basically owned for peanuts?!?!
I hated trading away Thomas, he looked like he could still play.

If I had to guess it’s going to end up being a pick swap where we get Sanu and a 4th round pick.

Well glad we addressed one area of need, now what about the 0-Line ? We desperately need help there, it will be nice when Wynn comes back but in his short time in the NFL he has been hurt a lot.

I know everyone is saying a 2nd is too high and I agree no more than a 3rd imo, but maybe he's one of those players that were always low key being held back from not being a Patriot, wouldn't be the first time a player came here and transforms over night they maybe see that and maybe that's why they gave up a 2nd, cause honestly hes worth a 3rd and he's 30 but we'll see.
From what I've read, it's a late 2nd round.
Practically a 3rd.

Bill can only get what's available, can afford, with someone who would deal before the deadline....

...And we have to see all of the details.
