I want to love this deal but that's a huuuuge price. Hope he's worth it!
There is only one way to find out.

It is a steep price and there's always the worry if receivers can pick up this offense. But good god, is he fast. Looks like he's flying out there. What's his 40 time?

Fights for the ball too. Would like more YAC, but he isn't afraid to catch in traffic.

Cooks, Edelman ------------ Gronk, , Hogan (or Mitchell)
Brady
Lewis

Oh god

gee whiz golly gee...the "Knowers Of Things" take it right up the wazoo...AGAIN. I'm waiting for the eventual seppuku rituals that will be performed by the Felcher/Borgy/Adam Jones *********** of idiots.

@pherein did you already offer your opinion on Cooks? Thoughts?

The guy is elite. Why trade him? Contract? Attitude?

Apologies if I missed it.

Recap of Patriots' 2017 draft picks after this trade:

1st round, #32 - traded away to New Orleans (Brandin Cooks)
2nd round, #64 traded away to Panthers (Kona Ealy)
3rd round, #72 - from Panthers (Ealy)
3rd round, #96
3rd round, #103
- from Browns (Jamie Collins)
4th round, #118 - from Saints(Cooks), stolen away by Goodell
4th round, #131 - from 2016 trade with Seahawks; traded to Colts (Dwayne Allen)
4th round, #137
5th round, #163
- from Broncos (AJ Derby)
5th round, #175 - traded to Browns (Barkevious Mingo)
5th round, #183 - compensatory pick
6th round, #200 - from Colts (Dwayne Allen)
6th round, #215 - traded away to Lions (Kyle Van Noy)
7th round, #239 - from Lions (Van Noy trade)
7th round, #250 - traded away to Lions (Michael Williams)

In my opinion this gives the Patriots a bit of extra incentive to trade Garoppolo - though it may not happen until Day One of the draft.

Saints make a deal with Butler and pats get first pick back.

If any team in the league made a deal with Butler, the Pats would get a higher pick than their own 32.

Cooks basicly has the the same system in NO that NE has, I dont expect the trasition to be that hard. Id be more worried about him getting used to the weather lol. Hes a machine, and truthfully I think hes better than julio jones falcons. He has a very good RB ability after the ball and doesnt play around, his head goes strait up field if you watch him and he runs for his life. Not like you see showboaters do. Look on youtube, youll see what I mean.
Im glad he found the best home. He's going to be a favorite in NE. Good Kid.

Hey Pherein. Watched a couple vids and he's not afraid to make the tough catch. didn't see much YAC when he wasn't wide open, but you say he did? Very important in our offense.

Just on page one with 7 pages to go. Initially I think we paid too much for someone who isn't a true #1 WR and likely a one year rental in a year we need defensive rookies.

That being said I am SOOOOOOOOO relieved Malcolm Butler isn't part of this deal, I almost don't care about the lost picks, though I probably will by the time I get caught up with this thread.
Only Hightower to go. Then developmental DEs and OLs in the draft.

3 3rds is pretty cool.

No question more shoes will drop between now and July

In regards to the 4th round pick in return from NO, maybe I'm missing something, but if the Pats know they'll lose a 4th due to the scam gate by the NFL, why wouldn't they ask NO to send over a 5th round pick so they at least get a real pick instead of losing the pick they received?

How Cooks fared on the various routes. Green means above the NFL average, red below. Does well as a deep threat and on routes that rely on YAC (screen and flat).

When Pats get #1 and #12

Miles Garrett... DE
OJ Howard... TE

Queue the duck boats

This was an absolutely amazing move by bb.

I can't believe he pulled this off.

I see people on twitter questioning why BB is getting rid of top picks in a deep draft. But we now have seven picks from late day two onwards. In a DEEP draft, that actually makes sense in terms of value. There will still be good players available then.
