FWIW, whomever this person is....they nailed it.

but...after so many established WRs not working out elsewhere...how does anyone on Pats know Cooks can learn this system???

this is wierd

Cooks is the most impressive WR I've seen in person at practice (been attending TC since 2013, haven't seen Moss obviously).

Cook will be a beast with the Pats. Not to go off on a Moss story, but I'm going off on a Moss story. Was lucky enough to go to 2007 TC in the bubble (my neighbor got me in to a friends and family no media practice). Moss would be double covered (Samuel and Hobbs) and he would take 1 step to their every 2 steps. They were running long posts so the DB's knew the play. Randy split them in two and with Asante holding him snatched a 40 yard pass out of the air one handed and jogged into the other end-zone. Freakish seeing that from field level. Ok... sorry...off track. Back to Cooks

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Patriots are still shopping Malcolm Butler.

Bulter wasn't part of New England's package for Brandin Cooks, but the Saints "could consider a trade at a later date." The Patriots can't afford to extend Butler after signing Stephon Gilmore. A restricted free agent, Butler is set to make just $3.91 million in the final year of his contract.

Awesome, this will be the 2nd opening night of the draft I won't have to stay up late for

Unless...Jimmy?

If the draft starts at 7, and it's for Jimmy, you'll be in bed by 7:30.

We keep Butler, this is awesome. I like this trade, but I do not love it. Here are my reaseon

First of all, I think we payed a lot for him. This is a loaded Draft and we lost some important picks.

Secondly, He was complaining in NO for not getting enough attention. BB won't stand that ****

Thirdly, We've seen (good and bad) WRs struggle here. I don't think it will happen (NO had a complex system and he did more than fine).

And lastly, but not least, We only have him for a year in a cheap contract, then we have to activate his option (Big pay increase). Then we have to re-sign him and Star WRs are not cheap. Whoever we would draft would be here for 5 years (at best)

In any case, the good points are much more important than the bad ones. And Butler stayed. He is a very good player on an excellent team

Good post. We did pay a lot [though the bottom 1st is not a real lot] and the contract resign is an issue. Nevertheless, a marginal 1st/2nd pick is no guarantee, we got a player who seems to fit, adds untold athleticism and is a proven NFL player with production.

BB does not behave the same every year. Seems to have money/picks and is going to use them in 2017.

I want to love this deal but that's a huuuuge price. Hope he's worth it!

I love this trade. Love it enough to look past the fact that we're going to go into the season with just Malcom Brown to show for our last 4 first round picks.

What I will say is that now more than ever I really, really want to see Garoppolo traded. Recoup some draft capital.

So they could trade Butler back to the Saints for the higher first round pick.

Very interesting....I'd like to keep Butler though

Better not be. No need to do that. Plenty of cap space and you need shut down corners.

Unless they have an eye on a shut down type corner with that pick. If so, then I trust them. Hell I trust them period at this point but Butler is a tough one for me.

I just got off the phone will BB. He says he's sorry that he couldn't get Jerry Rice in his prime, and he hopes you'll forgive him.

Deus - Tell Bill to call it a night and get some sleep . And tell him to give Linda a hug for me.

How long have fans asked Belichick to go all-out for Brady's final years? If they keep Butler, and move JAG for additional picks to load up on more defenders, this is it.

fixed your post

Wow, we are pushing a lot of chips in for the coming year. Usually Bill likes to split his assets out over more time.

I can't believe Edelman is the THIRD player that DCs have to focus on next season. They had next to no success when he was the first option...

Cooks basicly has the the same system in NO that NE has, I dont expect the trasition to be that hard. Id be more worried about him getting used to the weather lol. Hes a machine, and truthfully I think hes better than julio jones falcons. He has a very good RB ability after the ball and doesnt play around, his head goes strait up field if you watch him and he runs for his life. Not like you see showboaters do. Look on youtube, youll see what I mean.
Im glad he found the best home. He's going to be a favorite in NE. Good Kid.

I'm stoked that we didn't trade Butler. If they don't move him and sign Hightower, you might as well just hand the Pats the Lombardi now. Apparently BB liked what he saw out of the offense last season with a legit threat to take the top off the defense. This offense is going to be absolutely explosive.

Cooks
Hogan
Edelman
Gronk
Allen
White/Lewis

How do you stop that? You can no longer play man under to choke off everything underneath and, if you play Cover-2, Edelman, Gronk, and the backs will kill you between the numbers and down the seam. This offense is going to be a ****ing pinball machine.

Teams are going to rush 10 and hope they guess right with the one guy in coverage.
