Patriots trade 5th Rounder

Yeah, I think you are arguing against yourself .

I just think it has to do with the # of picks...the Texans will have too many guys taking up their rookie pool $$$ (Watson trade)...better to add UDFA's who don't count vs. the top 51 yet...
The rookie pool allocation is literally dependent on the picks a team makes in the draft (i.e., their rookie pool $ will go down because of this trade). Ironically, it has almost zero net effect on their actual salary cap room, because the signing bonuses for 183 + 245 are almost exactly equal to 170.

Who knew that your best players are really in rounds 5 - 7 and cheap money to boot.

I hope they trade down some more.

Anecdotally, I feel like the Pats have as many 6th round contributors as they do 5th rounders. Either way, you're in the longshot or specialist territory by the time you hit the 5th round, so this is probably a wash. I think they like having picks as evenly spread as possible, and this accomplishes that. I'm not sure this is something to be excited or upset about it. It's a maneuvering play.

Hard to have any strong feelings about this one way or the other.

6th round picks are fairly worthless, nonsense trade.

I guess the draft can't come soon enough eh?

Pats have had decent success in the 5th round with STers and OLs

Bailey
Bentley
Cardona
Cannon
Mesko
Slater
Koppen

Historically they seemed to double up in the 4th and 6th round. I wonder why they don't like the 5th rd? They've had good success.

Our 4ths have always made the team. Because of the expanded number of players, I expect our 5th to make it this year.

Between overvaluing compensation picks and this nothing of a trade, I am readying myself for the post draft spin

Patriots can use a 6th round pick to trade up 5 spots in the 4th round to draft a slot cb

I wonder, now that Musk owns Twitter, if Brady's request to have this picture taken down will be accepted, or just retweeted over and over and over again. (this is a joke for those who take things too seriously)

From what I have read, Musk is buying it to have free speech. We will see. I am not much of a twitter person, so I don't really have a dog in the hunt.

That might be because, in the last 10 years, they've selected just 6 players in the fifth round, but 17 in the sixth round.

I don’t think they see a difference between late 5th and early 6th. They gained a player to move back and probably take the same guy they would taken any way.

The problem with Twitter is that the speech of the few becomes amplified
The problem is people take it seriously. It’s amazing that we really have created a belief that we have to stop people from speaking out of fear of what they say.
