Ah ok, a future first round pick.

The Rams did it to get Stafford and Ramsey, two elite players at their positions and they won a Super Bowl so I'd say it worked out well for them.

It didn't work out well in the Trey Lance trade because Lance was never an NFL level QB, nor Deshaun Watson in Cleveland because of rust and injuries and off the field issues. Also Russell Wilson in Denver because he was never in sync with Sean Payton's offense. All of those were bad trades and the outcome should have been no surprise. None of those things apply to AJ Brown - he's also not a QB and he's an immediate upgrade and makes Drake Maye better. And not just that he also fundamentally changes this offense so the book on them that teams learned and executed in the playoffs is now worthless.

Maye is not Brady, and he will never be Brady. Can't load your team up with JAGs like we did with Brady and expect to win. He needs top level talent and sometimes you have to spend and take chances to get that talent.

What is the alternative? As it stood before the trade, the WR room was not good enough. They may be adequate during the season and give the fans "fool's gold", but then you'll see them suddenly forget how to play WR when the playoffs roll around. Doubs had his two game dominance in 2023, but we haven't seen that since. And Diggs wouldn't have been a good back up plan.

The Pats had to cave because he Eagles didn't have to trade him. I continually see rebuttals stating otherwise, but I'm 99.9% sure Brown wasn't going to sit out the season.
