Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports that the team plans to tender linebacker Christian Elliss as a restricted free agent. They will use the right of first refusal tender, which carries a salary of $3.263 million for the 2025 season.

If another team signs Elliss to an offer sheet, the Patriots would have the right to match but would not receive any compensation if they did not.

Ascending player who should benefit greatly from Vrabel's arrival (I hope).

No brainer move. Seems like a keeper even if just as a backup/STer. Book is still out on what type of defensive role he can ascend to. I think some overrate his progress last year because he was one only a handful of guys who actually seemed to be on any sort of developmental track over the last year.

I think he might only be someone who's good enough to be on the roster as a backup and STer that you hope never has to play a single defensive snap but if injuries dictate it then it's ok.

Might of been our best defensive player in the front 7 last season.

Was one of the only bright spots. Hope he signs for a few years.

This may be sacrilege but watching him last season I got Ninkovich vibes. Not the same kind of player but it just reminded me of how when Ninko first came in he kept surprising me with his playmaking when he got his chances. Definitely like this move. Good NFL family too, which I think helps.

Not in the NFL
Imagine what you or me could do with 3.2 Million Dollars? I guess it's all about perspective. 3.2M would make my wife and I very happy campers.

I really think that Ellis will be good in the new defense and Mapu/Dugger could be LBs in the new defense. I am really excited about seeing the new defense. The fact that at least one FA LB will probably be brought in means the Jihaad Campbell is not going to be a Pat.

I have seen Sherwood brought up as us having interest, he is the same size as Dugger. Ellis and Mapu are both 6-2 230
