This has got to be bad news for Tavai.

Interesting move. I figured with the LB room being crowded...we would have let him go to Vegas...
perhaps crowded for March

Many things can happen before the season starts, even competition.

A roster is not made in March, but rather in August.

Tavai costs little, but we can certainly dump him if he isn't the one of the best choices come August.

Not a big believer in PFF grades in general but FWIW, Elliss was their 19th ranked LB overall in 2024.

Something interesting occurred to me RE Tavai…

He’s almost identical in size to Harold Landry.

Might he be a DE in Vrabel’s system?

I didn’t care for his comments last year BUT I also have a short memory for players who produce.

All could be forgiven lol.

Nice try, Tom.

Our 1st round pick's signing bonus proration will count against our cap, as well his salary. But he'll push someone else out of the top 51, so whatever his cap hit is you can reduce by the $960K. That will be the case for every player we sign. Most of the salaries after the 1st round pick won't even be in our top 51, so really it's just the signing bonus amortization that will hit. That's why when you sign rookies it only will take away like $8M of cap space but then if they all make the team and you add up their cap hits it will count like $15M.
You can find the exact numbers here. It'll be updated if/when trades happen.

He's also as slow as a week in jail

yes we do Judge Smails

lol

Apparently it's 2 years/$13.5M with a 2025 cap hit of $4.8M so a 2026 hit of $8.7M, which is more than I'd expect.

You would think the Raiders would have reversed that if they wanted to make it more likely for the Pats not to match, or made it longer, or something. It's not really a deal that the Pats had any reason not to match.
