BB always screwing BB. One constant, vicious circle.Because BB blew it. Inflated ego and trying to be smartest guy in the room.
NFL has the least union/player friendly CBA of any sports league is the point. This has been a rule for decades.. This isn't new.
10% over last year's salary which was about $7.3M.
My question exactly. Why didnt they do the same thing with Greg Scruggs?
Patriots made May 9 tender offer to LeGarrette Blount
First, the team acquires exclusive negotiating rights with the player, if he doesn’t sign elsewhere before July 22. From July 22 through the Tuesday after Week 10 of the regular season, the player can sign only with his prior team. Second, if the May 9 tender is made and the player signs with a new team before July 22, the transaction counts toward the compensatory draft pick formula for 2018.
So if he signs before 7/22 he's part of comp pick formula. If not he can only sign with the Patriots through Week 10.

>> Any playoff team would easily sacrifice the 212+ pick in the draft for a veteran with Blount's production and experienceThis is great! I love LeGarrette Blount. The man carried the Patriots while Brady was suspended, led the league in rushing TDs, and is just such a positive force in the running backs room and on the sideline.
Blount starts his off-season with a 10% raise over his 2016 contract if he signs his tender, and his agent can still shop him around aggressively knowing that the compensation is a 7th round pick. Any playoff team would easily sacrifice the 212+ pick in the draft for a veteran with Blount's production and experience. If he can get what's in his deal plus a few hundred grand signing bonus, he'd be ahead of the game. Teams like the Redskins or Titans should jump on a deal like this to bring in a 2X Super Bowl champ who can take some of the heat off their young backs.
His agent should be aware of the rules. BB is. This is fine. He'll sign w the NYG & NE will benefit from the pick. Fun times indeed.Man, Blount must be so pissed.
Business can be cruel sometimes
Hey they just offered him what I make in 2 years so I would not complain..Man, Blount must be so pissed.
