Player Signing Patriots Sign Gesicki

Nice signing and it gives us a competent receiver at TE.

I still think we need a young #1 WR, likely via the draft, and should also look at a TE in the draft to take over next year.
Make it 2 ... Washington and SamPorta. Draft down from 14 and draft back up from 46. We need a 28 and 32 to take Darnell wright and Darnell Washington and 46 on SamPorta. This way we don't need to expend more money on TEs for next 3 years . We can pay WR1 money to the best available free agent next year.

There's no comparing Jonnu with Gesicki. The former is a screen pass/YAC specialist, the latter is a downfield threat. Now with Henry & Gesicki, we have two above average receiving TE's. Pretty exciting.

Gesicki burned us in the past so hopefully he works out like Welker did. haha. One year to rebuild his value and this is a good landing spot for him. He wasn't used at all last year so his big contract went bye-bye. He should be on a mission. Let's hope our offense holds onto the ball long enough to get some use out of this guy.
It's 99.99% we still draft a TE in the top 4 rounds. This is a bad year to not draft one. Maybe even double-dip.

We have needs at tackle, WR, CB, Safety, and LB. Im not spending 2 high picks on TEs.

I think our 1st rounder is likely best CB or Tackle available, with an outside shot at WR if Bill really likes one of them.

As I said yesterday he and HH are basically redundant however there are benefits...

-Knows the offense (E/P) so should contribute Week 1
-Is a move/catching TE and another big target for Mac
-If HH goes down he can replace him
-If they draft a TE and kicks ass in camp they can cut/trade HH and save a ton on the cap
Great post,

The knock on HH over his career is he's been injury prone.. so far he's been pretty reliable and dependable with us..

I hope HH can remain on the roster as I would like to see them both on the field together.. gisikie is another sneaky good move for us that will help us.. all in for still drafting a Kid..

On WR I would have to think between BB, BOB, Groh at some point WR is going to have to work out.. Thornton is promising..

Well this year talent at TE is too good to be ignored. These 2 will offset the need for a true wr and provide us cap relief for next 3 years .
I m still taking a tackle in first round.

But I hear you.. tough decisions.. joey Porter + 2nd round TE in Washington /Sam Porta and bergeron in 3rd round also seems okay.

This is a great signing, classic Belichick low risk high reward free agent acquisition. He's not much of a blocker, but is probably a better receiver and route runner than Henry (imo).

Excited for the Pats to play fast, find the weak link of the coverage and exploit mismatches.

Great move! We actually willed this one into existence.
A bit surprised by the 1-yr deal - but what that shows is that Pats likely still draft one of the top 5 TE's and let him learn this year. Then, we'll decide whether to let Gesicki or Henry go next year while pairing with the TE of the future.
I know Mike is basically a big WR, but so is Kelce. He will put pressure on defenses with mismatches.
This sort of, barely helps make up for losing Meyers.

Awful after the catch is an upgrade over Jonnu. That means he at least catches the ball

You know what? I didn't even read the commentary. I just saw the video of highlights and figured I would post them.

Ju Ju was the Meyers replacement. Same position, same type of numbers,….

I love this, great offseason thus far imo
