Patriots Send Dawson to Broncos in Surprising Trade

This continues to attract idiotic banter on Sportstalk Radio, in an effort to "gin up" some faux controversy, to me it is a simple as he did not make the team as the Pats have a very talented and deep d-backfield.. trading him to Denver means the Pats may never face him again soon instead of him being picked up on the waiver wire by an AFC East team..

...and because he was yet another 2nd-round Reach...by at least a full round...when obviously superior prospects were still available.

How do you reach that conclusion? Is it simply he was beat out by superior talent??

Would Patsfans feel more "comfortable" if he made the team solely because he was a second round pick at the expense of a better DBack??

The continual BS about how BB does not know who to draft or how to evaluate coming out of college is nutz.. one might think that this team sucks, all the while all of these guys come in on the same level playing field and some excel and some do not.. in my mind nothing wrong at all with this NFL meritocracy, and probably would not have it any other way.. cannot argue with the team building success...

Sorry, but I & others didn't like the little Duke (but Not of Dorchester) Dawson pick AS SOON AS IT WAS MADE. No hindsight here.

You might want to try peeking inside the Draft forum next year; you & others might learn something.

It's too bad your obvious personnel talents are wasted on a forum. Maybe you should send your resume to the Raiders or the Colts.

Dawson was one of those reach picks that have you scratching your head. Not really standing out in any area. Didn’t have any question marks that would warrant a reach. One of those picks you can get later in the draft, such as Richards, Dowling. He really nails the picks with obvious question marks or value.

There were tons of us who hated the Dawson pick as soon as it happened. Nobody is saying BB should be fired or that they would do a better job, but we're allowed to have opinions on picks, and because this is a forum, there's a lot of documented evidence that people were low on Dawson from the start, so the "hindsight" thing isn't really accurate.

once again..........people trying to argue about the award winning recipe

The Colts GM drafted two rookie All-Pros last year. He also hired a seemingly good coach that lead them to the playoffs after McDaniels backed out. Why would the Colts need help at GM?

and not one of you was excited to see the pats pick up UDFA JC Jackson when it happened......even though the only rookies to outproduce him were denzel ward and donte jackson

and I KNOW you won't be hailing all your binkies who fell flat on their faces in the past

"oh, oh look!!! I was right about this guy sucking"

meh......here's your farking star for your forehead

me? I'm still taking credit for my binky Logan Mankins

But you hate like 99% of the picks we make. You simply don't talk about the player anymore once he works out. (Thuney is a good example)

I'm wondering where all the Sony Michel haters went..........if I'm bored tonite, maybe I'll dig some of them up

You mean like Stephon “obscene waste of money” Gilmore?

The "Hindsight is 20/20" attempt at refutation is, perhaps, the most abused of all the tropes used by Patsfans.com posters. It's wrongly used much more often than it's used correctly.

From what I remember Jordan Richards and Tavon Wilson were thought to be late rounders. I believe Dawson was thought to be a mid-rounder so it’s not like this is a hindsight is 20/20 thing.

We get that a lot around here. It's part of the cycle that homers use when defending bad/questionable picks.

Player first drafted - You can't judge him now. He hasn't played a single game.
Player struggles early - It's too soon to judge. You have to give a guy 3 years.
Player bombs out - hindsight is 20/20. You can't crow about him now.

Actually, there were many of us in the Draft forum who applauded the JCJack signing post-draft.

Also most had reservations about the Dominique Easley First round Selection from the start. He had red flags due to his bad knees and was also not the prototypical DT BB usually drafts....well it didn't take long. The fans are right sometimes.
