"...You’re 4-13, you’re at the bottom of the league, and he kind of ran the thing into the ground. You’ve had to start over all over the place because not only did he draft poorly and sign bad [players] … he got selfish, and egotistical, and nepotistic, and he stopped looking for the best people. He did a lot of wrong things, and you are now in the abyss. You’re the odds-on favorite to have the #1 overall pick. You suck. And he’s the reason..."

- Phlemger's an *******... But he's not wrong.

Former Patriots defensive back Stephon Gilmore, who was at Brady’s ceremony Wednesday night, reportedly hasn’t heard from the team to this point and told Barstool Sports, “you never know,” as it pertained to a reunion. It’s safe to say many feel that would be a great move, as it would solidify what’s already a pretty talented secondary...

.already a pretty talented secondary...

- It is?
pretty talented? maybe yes, maybe no
I'd much prefer having another veteran.

We could pencil in vets Wilson and Wade and hope two of the kids step up.

THE EIGHT KEY POSITIONS
S: Dugger, Peppers, Hawkins
CB: Gonzo, ???, ???
NB: Jon Jones, Marcus Jones

And yes, we usually carry a 9th and 10th in case of injury.

PICK FOUR (including CB2, CB3, DB9, and DB10
Wilson
Austin
Bolden
Wade
Bledsoe
Dial
Hearn

Wilson, Austin, Wade & Dial. Bedsore & Bolden should Never have been drafted. Hearn's a Practice Squadder.

???

Wilson was a certainly a draftable player (a 4th rounder). He started for 3 years and was considered a solid player

Wade was also a draftable player (a 5th rounder)
==================
Arguably, Austin, Dial, Bolden and Bledsoe were borderline players and perhaps shouldn't have been drafted. I was OK with Bolden because he was a good college kick returner as well as a reasonable prospect to be 5th or 6th CB.

Austin looked good at the end of the season.

I think that for now my choices for the four are Wilson, Wade, Bolden and Austin. You have the same 10, except that you have Dial over Bolden. I think that Bolden is much more valuable to the team. As was the case with Mills last year, one of the corners can play a free safety if necessary. Hawkins should beat out any of the corners for safety reps.

I was just thinking, they’re basically returning everyone from last year, with the exception of Myles Bryant, and as much as I know people didn’t like him, that group performed pretty well last year. At least in terms of the overall numbers. Safety is obviously a question mark, but they have a decent group of defensive backs, especially with Christian Gonzalez and Marcus Jones hopefully healthy and back in the lineup. I feel like it’s a pretty solid group.

Surprised about the Bolden shade. Thought he was a great pick where they got him. Played solid in training camp until that ugly concussion in preseason.
He really did have a good camp. That injury was unfortunate, but so far it sounds like he’s had a good spring so it should be interesting to see how he looks just over a month from now.

Some fans and media need to look around the league at other team's secondarys.... the Patriots have gobs of talent there. Sure some of it's young and inexperienced, but this is the NFL... you don't want an old secondary. That's where you want young fast legs.

Locks/starters in bold:

SS – Kyle Dugger, Jabrill Peppers, Jaylinn Hawkins, Josh Bledsoe, Dell Pettus (PS),
FS – Shaun Wade,
BIG CB – Christian Gonzalez, Marco Wilson, Isaiah Bolden, Marcellas Dial, Alex Austin, Azizi Hearn,
SLOT CB – Jonathan Jones, Marcus Jones, Kaleb Ford-Dement (PS),

That's a great secondary if healthy, if the defensive front does their job creating pressure and if the offense isn't completely inept and allows them to pass rush by scoring points.

Yeah, if these guys hit on their potential then it’ll be a great unit. But it’s still an “if”. Some may not, some may get hurt, etc. Having a stable vet in Gilmore would be a nice insurance policy, but it’s not necessary until around August.

Still, give (Felger) credit. He’s one of the best when it comes to pulling the strings and firing people up, and it remains the reason why he and Tony Massarotti continue to dominate the afternoon ratings.

So very true. I think Felger doesn't believe a single word that ever comes out of his mouth when the light is on. He knows exactly how to manipulate the minds and emotions of people in a way that they will react, and tune back in each and every day. It is a sad statement of our our society, but that is what we have collectively become. And he and his ilk - whether it is on talk radio, podcasts or political internet commentary - are laughing all the way to the bank, week after week, year after year.

Who are these people ? Why watch when you know his only purpose is to mess with people. I can’t lie… I have never seen a Felger show or listened on the radio. I’m not sure what he even looks like without doing a google search. Reading some of the asinine things he’s said over the years is enough for me to stay away.

Making it a video broadcast definitely changed things in that regard, since it allows you to see his face when he makes the remarks and then switches gears. His eyes tell you the wheels are turning during those times when he realizes he might have gone too far. He knows exactly what he’s doing and has gotten extremely good at it.

That said, he’s actually a good guy in real life. He was always helpful and great to me back in the day, albeit I doubt he remembers since it was mostly in passing. And I do give him a lot of credit given that it took a while for those guys to grab a foothold and maintain it, especially knowing how much WEEI dominated for a good portion of that era.

Stop making Felger famous, the guy is a troll and clueless.

Two starters outside in Gonzalez and Wilson…

Two studs in the slot in the Jones bros…

Two studs at strong safety in Duggar and Peppers…

Shaun Wade has developed into a good player who fits the system and has solid athleticism at free safety.

How many great players do other team have in their secondary? Sure, they could have injuries, that describes 100% of the teams in the NFL.

Bolden, Dial, Hearn, Austin… they have solid young developmental pieces to round out the roster. While Gilmore would be a nice luxury piece to add, he’s on the wrong side of thirty and will be expensive.

We have people above suggesting they have no talent and that brings an otherwise mild take to the absurd. I don’t see the big glaring need.

The Patriots played Super Bowl caliber defense with Troy Brown and Edelman starting at the slot CB position. Want to improve the defense, add more pass rush, you can never have enough. Carl Lawson and others are still sitting out there, I’d rather bolster the front… or how about adding a real left tackle? All that’s left is the geriatric free agents but that’s better than the total mystery that exists now.

A very smart troll…which is an issue. I will say that the quiet rooting for Belichick to get fired and the team to fail is going to hurt them all badly. If the team has multiple years of being at the bottom of the standings and interest really starts to drop off, it’s going to severely impact things for all of them. That whole, “be careful what you wish for” thing comes into play. That’s one where everyone loses, and that’s especially bad for an industry that also isn’t exactly on solid ground right now.

There’s zero accountability in media outside of ratings. If fans wants a better class of media they need to stop supporting and feeding the trolls.

I also don’t get the hate for the current administration, BB used to hold them to account for asking stupid questions and asking for privileged information that might harm the team on Sundays.

Mayo is an open book, he’s probably saying too much… Felger should give it a rest.
