Patriots release Albert Haynesworth

The question is not "how are we going to fair without Haynesworth?" but should be "how much better are we going to be now with Deaderick and Brace."

Haynesworth, who is noted for his strength (showing his power of lifting up huge sundaes at Dairy Queen),penetration (no hand goes up inside of a woman's blouse faster than old perverted Al), and aggression (no one is more aggressive than grabbing a 100M and running away than our favorite Al) was great in attacking offenses, waitresses, and cops. But in our defensive philosophies, he does not fit the criteria. Brace and Deaderick's pedigrees are what we need for our dominating line.

Changed a few words for you

surprised it took NE so long to cut him

There are a few other guys on this team who I think should be shown the door.

If they cut every player that didn't belong on the team, they couldn't field a defense, because they wouldn't have enough linebackers or DBs.

Actually, Haynsworth was an inexpensive rotation player for the first half while Deaderick and Brace were on PUP (and an emergency starter if Love didn't continue to develop). I think that he fulfilled that role reasonably well.

Of course, we (and Albert) hoped for much more.

Facts are meaningless in this.

Very simple

Low risk, high reward move

Didn't work out. can't have no effort roster spots.

Guys in line to replace

The only thing that makes this a big story is the name Haynesworth.

Why is Andy Johnson's **** posting on this forum?

Haynesworth is gone because of reasons that haven't been announced. It honestly doesn't matter to me why he's gone.

As for the number of snaps, Love got them by default since the Pats didn't have anyone else to put in there with Ellis out and neither Warren or Brace in full game shape yet.

But, you keep thinking that Love is better than Haynesworth.

Um, how is Warren not in full game shape? He hasn't been listed in the injury report for at least the past two weeks. And you do realize that Ellis plays 4-3 DE for us, not 4-3 DT? How is Love taking his snaps?

In the coaches' eyes, Love is apparently the next best available defensive tackle on the roster after Wilfork. If it was Haynesworth, he'd be starting these games and playing more.

Didn't Deaderick just come off the PUP list? He hasn't been on the field ALL YEAR.

Just wondering why a 7th round draft pick that has already been suspended once isn't looked at as anything but a project that will hopefully be good. I mean, he was active for 10 games last year and literally did nothing in the last five of those weeks and was then suspended by the team.

In 2 games back he has no quarterback hurries. That is all I said. I am hopeful for the future, but see no reason yet to think of him as anything but a project.

Boy, this move should definitely fix all of our D woes.:bricks:

wow - whoda thunk Waters would be the bright spot move of the offseason

Anyone think that Andre Carter and Haynesworth simply can't survive together on one team?

Carter and Haynesworth were known in Washington to not be the best of buddies, yet Belichick signs Al anyway

The Pats signed Haynesworth before they signed Carter.

I'm less concerned about the impact of losing Haynesworth this year as I am about what it says about the suckass nature of BB's personnel moves lately.

I never understood why everyone touted this move as low risk. Sure it wasn't very risky financially, but he was the major acquisition on defense, we were relying on him to improve our defense and get it back to at least an adequate level. We put our eggs in his basket and he didn't work out, leaving our defense no better (worse actually) than last year.

I realized that. I'm not going to jump the gun and say cut Tracy White, he was placed in a position, he wasn't ready for.

I am all for cutting Sergio Brown and Edelman.

Never a dull moment. I thought he quit on the Jacobs' TD, although I'm sure there's more to it than that. Still think he can make one or two more plays per game than his replacement can, but I guess he is not worth the trouble.

How on earth did it look like he gave up?

Bedard was quick on the trigger with this one today - credit to Chris from Sunnyvale above. Vince Wilfork's comments last week about taking some of the blame for the passing defense woes was a man owning a problem. Never a word from Haynesworth.

After Giants game, Haynesworth had to go - Extra Points - Boston.com

There is no better move than to remove someone who doesn't try when managing teams. It totally motivates those remaining and is the best way to prove that effort is rewarded.

It may well be that 85 is working really hard and just hasn't gotten it yet, but Haynesworth - if Bedard is correct - took plays off and probably was the defiant jerk that got him booted out of Tennessee and Washington.

We'll see on Sunday night if this defense comes out swinging. I'll bet they do.

yup, theres no reason to keep haynesworth on the roster if he isnt going to try and is goign to be a cancer in the locker-room. give it to a player who is going to try

Let's not forget Carter. He brings heat on the QB (sadly, often the only one), but that was the hope. What doesn't get the kudos it deserves is his run D...for a small 4-3 DE.

Regards,
Chris

Yes, let's cut our best punt returner/kick returner because the front 7 on the kick return team can't block the opponents guys well enough to open a hole so our return men can get beyond the 20 yard line.

As for cutting Brown, that is something we agree on..

How on earth did it look like he gave up?

From the reports and what people saw, Haynesworth stopped moving his feet and, as such, got pancaked..
