Hard to take ANYTHING seriously from a shorts and T-shirt practice.......BUUUUTTT, it was really good to hear that not only did Thornton look bigger, he flashed some EXPLOSIVENESS. I never saw that from him last season. Too many wasted steps. But I have often said, becoming a polished WR is a multiyear process for most WR's.

We all talk about separation when we talk about receivers, and GETTING that separation happens in the most part, from getting off the LOS. Getting a half step coming off the LOS often translates into a yard when the receiver makes his route cut later.

Normally I don't go to TC practices until they put on pads, but this season I might go to a couple just to see what guys like Giseki, JJ and Thornton look like in person
Maybe sneak into that shower room Ken?

Oh, and Bryant getting toasted deep and Bryant muffing a punt. The more Bryant fail the better. Make the cut decision inevitable.

hes been cut before . not signing him back is the tricky part ; )

(hes a nice/safe PS piece - the problem is he always finds a way back playing games)

I think he’s similar to Richards…probably smart and understands his and other assignments around him and a good practice player but he’s not good on game day.

Yep... "Product knowledge" is the floor, but Talent is the ceiling; and the Spaceman - same as Thanksdad, Jalopy Tavai, The Comedian - just ain't got Nearly enough of it worth keeping in the building.

All 4 expiration dates have Long expired... Time to give others a chance, Bill.

You speak the truth. I live in houston. I made a face too, but when I thought of him replacing the matt and judge show, I smiled.
Yeah, pretty poor GM but great coach. I’m very optimistic about him as the OC and hope he sticks around for a while. I would even take him as the next HC when Bill retires as long as Groh or whomever is running the personnel dept at the time (probably Wolf if not Groh) becomes the GM.

This take isn’t from watching a couple of days in shells. It’s a thought I’ve had already.

I’m way more optimistic about this year than last year. I really am. The OC situation alone changes things entirely.

I think this defense will be really good. If Mac plays like the guy we saw in 2021, I mean… the weapons are better. I think the OL should be better as well (although still spotty) run game should remain stout. If that happens, why can’t this team be good?
BOB brings the guidance and a flavor of coaching that Mac needs. Zappe will push him and keep him on his A game. The play-calling will be good and incorporate some modern elements. The TEs will actually be used, and used effectively. The receivers won’t have routes designed to run into one another. The OL will actually have a coach! And best of all, Belichick will be able to focus mostly on the defense where the entire very solid unit from last year except DMac is returning plus adding a new #1 CB and other nice pieces.

maybe its the homer in me, but I feel the Patriots are going to be better than everyone expects this season. and I feel at least one AFC east team will fail to live up to the hype they are getting (Hi Jets/aaron rodgers i'm looking at you)

I have to believe Thornton will be one of the biggest beneficiaries of O'Brien. Stacked sets, pre-snap movement, heavy dose of play-action will all make jamming him at the LOS harder. And once corners learn to respect his speed he's going to see a lot more off-coverage too.

The Jete are gonna get off to a fast start, including a win against us on week 3 at Exit-16W, might as well get used to that... It's their finish, including week 18 in Foxborough, where I have my doubts...

Hoping for losses, should we tank and try to go 0-17?

Very little mention of Perkins or Sam Roberts in the reports...I will be keeping an eye out for the underdogs ?

Oh ye of little faith!

More likely, Jets may get off to a fast start in their first two games. But by game three the Pats upgraded 2023 defense will be hitting its stride. The Jests will lay a major offensive turd. Their season will devolve into sulking and finger pointing between their prima donna QB and everyone he can find to blame for the poor offensive production, in other words everybody else. By week 18 the Gangrene stalwarts will long since be clamoring for the FO to bring back Zach.

Please list all the players who returned punts in the OTA's or ever before. I strongly agree that I would like to see one beat out Bryant as the backup PR.

I am loving all the reports of Tyquan Thornton taking a TyQuantum Leap. He's a guy who, if he pans out, can make people go "whoa I thought we were just playing the PATRIOTS... not a game... Patriots..."

This time last year was also really promising for TT, but the injury and the weirdness on offense made him hard to... heh... judge.

We're undefeated. I think they misunderestimate us.
