I hope we aren’t getting excited for nothing and Kraft comes out arm to arm with a ringing endorsement for Jerod.
That would be the perfect way to kill the burgeoning hope.

I could see that. Of course, Mayo could be a figurehead for as long as it takes to find a replacement, which could happen before the Super Bowl or not until after the 2025. season.

IMO, the key is to get rid of Covington and to bring in a couple of top defensive coaches. We lost two: Belichick and Belichick. Apparently, they devised the game plans and called the defensive plays.

Yes. Wich the defense should have been the part of the team to least worry about. I think at minimum they bring someone in with defensive accumen to support covington.

I expect we’ll lose Brian too and he joins his dad in NC.

Was listening to sports talk radio today WEEI going over some of the contracts.. Godchaux may not be here next season and other veterans on short deals.. we need the Defensive line revamped to meet modern NFL standards.

I am worried that Pellegrino leaves as well. Even if the Krafts do not fire Mayo I cannot imagine that Pellegrino would want to stay. If they do fire him I don't know if Pellegrino would want to stay and go through another possible **** show.

Pelligrino like covington all have something to prove. As the pathetic performance of the defense notably how the secondary basically anyone not named gonzo has been had this season by QBs.

Yeah, I think they're going to start rebuilding the defense around Barmour and Gonzo... maybe White... as the longterm defense. I think the spending spree last offseason was a bandaid while they tried to get the offense in order. That didn't really play out like they planned.

This is the most damning thing about hiring Mayo. He didn’t do much of anything. I wondered about this last year after being told how great he was. It sure looked to me that Steve B was the coordinator and Bill devised the game plan. This is quite honestly the most irresponsible hire in the history of the NFL. The Patriots are a six time Super Bowl winner not the FN Cleveland Browns. Yeah Jeff Saturday was bad but the Colts didn’t have a former player and coach of the year like Vrabel sitting there. We didn’t even talk to him. We just went with Mayo. BTW I don’t know whose “Business Degree” I’m more tired of hearing about…. Mayo’s or Swayman’s. Oh yeah and one more thing. If I have to hire a mentor or Tudor for Mayo to learn from he shouldn’t be the fn coach. It’s not rocket science.

The blame should be pointed at Mayo and not Covington. It's not Covington's fault he was promoted without merit. Mayo is supposed to be the guy with the "brains" and guide his coordinators like Bill did. However, Mayo doesn't want to do anything because he's simply not capable of it. This is why he lets the coordinators do their thing.

No top defensive coaches will want to work for Mayo who will not only throw them under the bus, but probably be on a staff that is on the hot seat assuming Mayo returns in 2025.

Agreed there. What they need Is a fast athletic front.. DE, and DTs that have quick first steps. They are realistically 4 to 5 players away on defense if they chose to do a full revamp?

Tudor?

Well.. they released Liam fornadel.. so I guess that's the news of the day..

I'd rather have Fornadel & Mike Jordan than Lester the Molester Cotton & the Other Robinson Who Sucks Too.

Is there a coaching staff in the NFL that requires more hand holding/mentoring than this group?
How's everyone gonna fit on the bus?

The spending “spree” where they left 40 mill unspent?
