Player Signing Patriots hosting OL Greg Van Roten [Updated: Signed 8/17]

As far as I can tell, he's started 1 game at Center. .
google is a wonderful thing

He has started only THREE games at center. However, he was a backup center. For example, he took 124 snaps at center in 2024 for the Giants. This is exactly what many of us wanted, an experienced veteran guard who has also backup up at center.

And yes, I agree that we should be looking for an upgrade to Brown, especially given the age of VanRoten. But we are in good shape for this season with VanRoten replacing Wallace on the roster (compared to 2025).

I would note that Vrabel considers Brown capable of at least being the 5th IOL. I expect that he will continue in that role in 2027, given that his compensation would be $1.2M of new money. That being said, we will need a replacement for Van Roten,

He's done as being a member of the New England Patriots unless they agree to another deal, so neither side have gained anything.

OR: The Patriots could clear cap with a settlement on a player who might not be here next year, and the player gains his freedom to pursue his NFL career (provided reports are correct that it's a short term injury) on some practice squad.

I don't know what you are making a big deal about. If the Patriots don't commit something to the player (and that just might be a spot on the practice squad in 3 weeks) then it will be in everybody's interest to move on.
It's called actually knowing what I'm talking about and not just making s**t up the way you do,. You literally made a BS claim about the Pats not being able to put a player onto season ending IR over an MCL strain. Then you begrudingly admitted to being wrong but tried to down play your BS with some ****amamie BS about an Injury Grievance.

Until the Patriots give him an injury settlement, he's still a member of this team.
Why?

The showed Ruprich the door.

They could bring back any player they cut, if the cards were to fall correctly, so of course it could happen.

But as far as we know: he's dead Jim.

What are you blathering about? They didn't show Rupcich the door. FFS. They put him on IR. He will be under the care of team doctors and rehabbing under their supervision as long as he's under contract. Putting someone on IR doesn't majically oid the contract.

Showing Rupcich the door would be giving him an injury settlement and not bringing him back when he's healthy.

Maybe you should stop trying to defend your moronic takes and deal with facts. You'd be better off.
