Patriots Host QB Will Levis as Part of Their Top 30 Visits

I don't really want Levis tomorrow but I do hope we get something to be excited about between Thursday and Friday. A tackle tomorrow and a trade for Jeudy Friday night. I don't know honestly this just seems like a boring team with a pedestrian offense that is content to win 8 games again as we just seem to be the late Jeff Fisher era Rams toiling away in mediocrity. They desperately need to inject some life into this offense over the weekend.

A trade down for an extra 2nd or 2nd and 3rd would be exciting.

IF not Jeudy a Trade for Hopkins would make me happy would really jump start our Offense.

Not at the cost of a plug in Starter. We want players who can step in and Start early on I am all for targeting a certain player.

I’m a big fan of Hyatt’s. For you old timers, reminds me of Patriot’s legend Stanley Morgan back in the 1970s and 1980s, also out of Tennessee. Hyatt won the Biletnikoff award for best NCAA receiver. I think he’s slated for the 2nd or 3rd round. He’s definitely on my list of receivers I’d be happy to see the Pats select (it’s a pretty long list).

A fun fact about Stanley Morgan, back in 1979, Morgan AND Harold Jackson each had over 1,000 yards receiving for the Pats, and each averaged over 20 yards a catch. Haven’t done any research, but I bet it’s one of the few times a pair of receivers both had 1,000 yards AND 20 yards a catch, on the same team.
Just FYI, I don't know anything about Hyatt, but I listened to a Scout talk about Hyatt's failure rate against press coverage yesterday. He has severe difficulty getting off the line. Also, against zone, he is absolutely clueless. Got into space only 10% of the time against zones.

Maybe the scout was saying all this because he absolutely loves Hyatt, but...

Really I see Hyatt differently that same Scout probably thought N Harry would be the next Megatron... yeah Scouts have been wrong before. I like Hyatt's game speed I think he will get a lot of cushion at the next level from CB's. Elite CB's in the NFL are few and far in-between.

Lots of plug-in starters in the late 1st and 2nd. 30% to 50% fail in R1 and R2, so having an extra pick means we will statistically have a 100% chance of a plug-in starter whereas having only one pick at #14 means it is a toss up if we will have a plug-in starter or not.

If it was a Top 10 pick in a year with a strong draft class I would agree with you. At #14 with a weak top end draft class, it is better to trade down.

Hate to break it to you but that decline has been apparent years ago.

Ever since BB signed a washed up Cam Newton in 2020 and couldn't win a single playoff game ever since a certain #12 got pushed out the door.
Unrealistic expectations around a rebuild.

There is no way to cut corners when you're rebuilding.

All the old players leave, you draft new ones to take their place.

It's life in the NFL.

They can't be wrong about facts. Either he's winning against press or failing.

The scout was on ESPN radio. If he's talking about something factual , and it's easy to refute, there is really no argument.

I've been reading the top half of the draft is where the strong 1st round grades are, then there's a big drop off to 2nd round grades.

Looking at probabilities, it's better to stay high with the higher grades.

That's what I'm saying get that Blue Chip Offensive Tackle or Shut down CB right off the bat we're going to NEED either.

I have been reading that there is only about 15 or less first round grades for this draft, and then it drops off. If we were in the Top 10 we could get a first round guy, but at #14 we could be one of the first teams getting a second round guy. If we are going to get a second round guy, why not trade down?

What does the "top half of the draft" mean? Top 15 picks (half of 31)? Again that means we are scrapping the bottom of the barrel at #14 or getting a round two graded guy.

??

If there are 15 players with 1st round grades, wouldn't that guarantee us a 1st round selection, especially since the 4 or even 5 QBs will push down players to our spot? And all the positions in play except for Bijan Robinson are at positions of need (DL, DB, OT).

Agreed. The top half with 1st round grades includes the QBs.

If the Top Half = 15 or more, then we are in a good spot. If the Top Half = 13, then we are in the worst possible draft spot for the whole draft and should trade down.

Someone always reaches though, so even with only 13, we should be good.

I hope you’re right; I’m curious as to who you have as the blue chippers? @BaconGrundleCandy has 9 in his list, but none of the QBs are in that group either. So assuming those 4 (Richardson, Levis, Young, Stroud) are all taken, that gets to 13 based on his list, so we’d still be on the outside. I’m thinking maybe Paris Johnson is the difference, who BGC has just outside of that range?

I like Johnson but I don’t think he’s plug and play.

We already have 11 picks, that would be a stupid strategy to trade down. It has failed the Pats many times. Take a stud at 14, that’s a prime slot to be in. If they only had 7 or 8 picks, then yeah. But 13-14 picks would be dumb, only have so many roster spots. If anything, TRADE UP, they have a lot of picks to do so.

It worked out really well for 1. Dugger and Uche, and 2. Strange plus Zappe plus Jack Jones plus this year's 3rd round pick.

We would not use 13 to 14 picks, the Pats use the extra picks to trade up after they have traded down.

Well, they say the odds makers have Levis going with the number #2 pick. This BS rumor will make all those Levis fans in New England happy.
