Allegedly..

at the end of the day. I don't see how some fans can say with a straight face the roster building has been successful the last few years. we are 4-13 for a reason. and its largely because we make odd draft decisions that go against the norm and we whiff on a majority of our picks. and then prioritize cheaping out and signing jags in the offseason.

we talk about "excuse and blame shifting" but its always someone elses fault, kraft, the scouts! never the guy who is 100% in charge.

who knows, maybe nothing changes we are drafting guards in the 1st and kickers in the 4th largely ignoring the offense and signing scrap heap OL and offering high incentive laden prove it deals to talented players and we can say its Kraft. but until we do i have to believe it was the guy who was the GM.

now you are just making stuff up out of your @$$. and alot of revisionist history.

the 2018 team was not that good. brady struggled all year. but they switched to a run first team and rode their defense. with Brady operating as a game manager and making timely plays to win. IT was pretty clear that teams talent was on the downswing.

2019 roster was pure garbage. Brady threw 25td's and we got hosed in the wildcard round throwing to sanu/watson. thats good team building?

theres no proof Kraft made Bill keep Mac Jones. and as you see the results werent much better with crappy zappe. Kraft had to step in and meddle after Bill blew the 2022 season by hiring Matt patricia/judge instead of a real OC.

if you want to blame 2022 and 2023 on anyone. its Bill and the uncharacteristic decision to not invest in his offense/whiff on all the picks. and then not hire a real OC. I dont think people realize how unprecedented it is to make a DC/Special teams coach your OC. theres not a single other team thats done it....because they know its a horrible idea.
The “not good” 2018 team win the damn Super Bowl. You need to revisit what good means.

2019 was 10-1 and allowed 14 or less in all 10 wins before Brady started playing crappy.

There absolutely is a report from wickershsm that says bb wanted to trade 10 last off season and Kraft wouldn’t let him.
Kraft “stepping in” made the offense go from 17th (average) to 31st. But 2022 was the problem right?

The unprecedented move worked better than the high profile “traditional” one.

Interesting that you have issues with the drafting after Kraft publicly said the way we draft has to change. AND after he gave BBs job to Mayo effective in 2 years, which he accelerated. If BB was gone at least after 2024 why would you think Kraft allowed him to run the 2023 draft after saying he wants the drafting done differently? The 2023 draft (after krafts comments) was entirely inconsistent with any past bb drafting history.

It’s not a 4-13 team with an adequate QB. You can’t extend qb failure to blame of everyone on the roster.

winning a superbowl doesn't mean the roster wasn't still on the decline. the 2018 roster was a clear downgrade from 2017 and 2016. same with 2019. you are ignoring the total context. we had brady. we never were missing the playoffs in 2019. do we win a superbowl in 2018 with Jimmy G had bill gotten his way? absolutely not.

brady who "just started playing crappy" threw 15 more td's the following year. he didn't improve in a bubble. he had better talent.

If I just look at the drafts from 2020 through 2023 (the years Wolf has been in NE), there are some amazing picks and some god awful picks. If the thought process is that some of those bad ones (particularly the higher ones) were Bill going with his gut over the scouts’ objections, then this move makes sense. Otherwise it does not make a lot of sense. Like I said, Kraft would know since he would be there to see it annually.

you don't believe Bill had the final say? the currans/media types were all wrong?
I believe Bill had the final say but i don't believe the stories that x scout/GM wanted an all pro instead 2 years after he drafted the bust.

It's just like the stories in Carolina leaking most wanted CJ Stroud, yeah course you did.

but we know Bill had the final say. and chose poorly. do you think kraft is clueless about what is going on in his organization? when he says we need "checks and balances". that he is just assuming bill overruled his scouts/personnel people?

Here’s hoping we have a really aggressive free agency and draft strategy.

John Harbaugh had arguably less experience than Mayo. He was a special teams coordinator, but never more than a defensive position coach. And he didn't play the game.

Dan Campbell was never more than a position coach.

Mike Tomlin was only a defensive coordinator for one year before he became a head coach.

Sean McVay was only only coaching in the NFL for five years before he got his head coaching duties.

There are a lot of successful head coaches without much experience before they got the position.

And I tend to doubt Jerod Mayo is going to be a Kraft Yes Man. The guy has been a leader pretty much since he was drafted.
John Harbaugh has 24 years of football coaching experience and 18 of them as a coordinator.

Dan Campbell had 11 years coaching experience, was an interim HC, and was an asst HC for 5 years.

Tomlin had 12 years of coaching experience and was a DC.

McVay (by the way why are you lying about his experience? He was in Washington for 7 years) had 9 years cus hung experience and was OC for 3.

Please explain which one has less experience than Mayo.

What you “tend to doubt” with absolutely zero knowledge of the situation means nothing.

I have optimism about a guy like Wolf.

Groh? Not so much. I do think he had a decent say in regard to some of the 2022 draft disasters.

Considering everything is being kept in house you have to believe Kraft thinks groh/wolf were being overruled by Bill.

No other reason why you keep the band together…. But subtract one piece.

Otherwise you clean house with the whole thing

Winning a sb means you are a good team.
Your opinion of “clear downgrade” means nothing.
We win the sb BECAUSE belichick “got his way”. Stop with the disproven bs.

He played how he played. Stop with the excuses.
