Surely you could provide a link to the claim

Here is the link to the audio. It is around the 30 minute mark where Breer talks about how the Patriots' scouting department is under staffed and behind the times.

A direct quote from Breer: "I was told by someone, if you hired someone from Philly the they would think they landed on Mars. Where is the sports science department? Where's the analytics? Where's this? Where's that?"

“Where are the nerds”
Once someone can show analytics are better at building a football team than football knowledge, film and coaching ability this may be relevant.

Borgonzi is from Everett and has done a nice job with the Chiefs.
Would prefer a new face come in from outside the organization.
Yeah. Those receivers are great......./s

Maybe just are going to wait after the draft to promote Wolf or Groh? Is my guess.
So Kraft is pry debating on whether he ls going to promote within and if he’s not happy Will then look outside the organization.

I don’t agree with it but here we are.

why would you wait than? just make it official if you think Groh or Wolf will be the right GM, though I doubt, hope they will not waste the great draft position they have by Groh drafting like he did recently if the rumors are right

Right now, the Eagles have a far better and more talented football team than the Patriots. Whatever they are doing to build a team is far better than what the Patriots are doing.

And how many years have we heard "Belichick the coach is covering for the mistakes of Belichick the GM"?

And when was the last time the Pats had a truly successful draft? 2020 was decent with Dugger, Uche, Jennings, and Owenu coming of it, but not one truly impact guy. 2021 had Barmore (who may be a stud DT) and Stevenson and nothing else now that Jones is ruined. The Pats don't have a single player left on the roster from the 2019 draft and only Bentley from the 2018 drafts. They were both bust drafts. Cole Strange looks to be the only starter from the 2022 draft with Marcus Jones as a specialist, and Zappe, Thornton, and Harris as a back ups. Maybe a nerd could have had the Pats draft better players or develop some of the players they drafted better.

This only makes sense if they already have their guy internally.

If this true, it pretty much confirms what Curran has been touting; that Wolf is the next GM.
correct so my point is that if Kraft feels we bombed the draft he will look elsewhere after.
If he is pleased with the process and the draft Wolf or Groh gets the title.

I don't buy it unless, as others pointed out, they are going to make Wolf or Groh the GM. I don't know if a GM worth his salt would want to take a GM position after this draft. With the #3 pick, a GM would want control of that because his future would be tied to the success of that pick especially if it is a QB.

Exactly. They need to get that pick right. If the team stinks in 2024 and onward because the guy picked at #3 stinks, the GM will be tied to that even though he wasn’t even here to make that pick. This is either bunk reporting or the selection is already made in house.

Whether or not a GM is named before or after the draft, someone is making the moves here regardless this spring.

And I doubt it’s Mayo or Kraft.

This sounds like downgrading at head coach and keeping everything else that helped cause the downfall of the head coach mostly the same, that doesn't sound like a good plan to me.

If you think Bill drafted every player without input from any scouts or personnel guys well i think you're going to be in for a rude awakening expecting sudden elite drafting from mostly the same people.

curran has been pretty spot on. so it probably is Wolf. just like he knew it was Mayo

Yeah he might be using the draft as some sort of evaluation prior to making a GM decision.

Who knows if this is true? I wouldn’t operate this way, but I’m not the owner.

I dont necessarily disagree. but we have had reporting that Bill over-ruled his scouts when drafting harry over deebo/aj brown. I mean caserio left largely because he felt he was being over-ruled by Bill and wanted the full GM Title and autonomy.

make no mistake. Bill was the final say.

The greatest dynasty in the history of the sport had a process.
Some teams think “the nerds” are the new way to build a football team.
No one has proven this.

Arguably the downturn in New England started with Kraft taking authority away from belichick.
