Perhaps "burning" means wasting. We are certainly spending lots of cap money, with more spending to come.
1) We are spending more than any other team (in terms of total contract money and amount guaranteed.

2) We've signed 2 of the top 25 players for $14.5, $18M and $26M AAV plus Landry at $14.5 and Spillane at $11.M AAV.
3) We have made many, many decisions regarding letting players go and in signing other free agents.
4) The team is likely stronger talentwise at almost every position, obviously not including LT, WR, RB and TE.
5) We are 3 weeks into the free agency period with 5 months to go (plus the draft). Many more players will be added. Many positions remain to be upgraded.

BTW, our 2026 effective cap space is already down to $35M. With a top WR signing and a few lesser signings it will be reduce to very little. Yes, the cap will go up for everyone. I do expect us to carry forward $35M or so. My point is that huge largess of excess cap money will largely be gone by the end of the season, with us being having a middle of the road amount available in 2026.
Our great 2026 advantage is that we will have no expensive players even potentially reaching free agency, only Bentley being over $5M.
