If Boutte doesn't seem ready, I would want him to have a camp and then go on IR.

I don't want him on the season-opening 53 just to put him on short-term IR; I'd rather save that type of designation for a more important player.

I don't remember the rules, but there's conSIDable flexibility there now. So yeah you can keep him, move him if he hasn't caught on, and yes, use the designation... I guess you don't PLAN to put him on short term IR, but it's certainly a way out if it's important to have some more looks at him. All that said, I believe you still have to be injured, technically, to be on the IR. Of course I am sure a team doctor can say he hurt his pride or something and will be out four weeks.

Lazar is a big fan of his (and the pick) and doesn’t seem like the type of guy to overreact to OTAs or minicamp. It’s more likely Paul Perrillo.
