Patriots Player Departure Patriots are sending WR Kayshon Boutte to the Texans for safety Jaylen Reed and a draft pick

most every time Boutte touched the ball was either for a first down or TD
he demanded the ball earlier in his career, and was red flagged
he keeps his mouth shut and he is a model citizen...

He had 33 catches with 6 TDS and 27 first downs. Thats great % but the problem is that with a mediocre WR room, he only had 22 catches for 551 yards. That's all he could produce with a golden opportunity. He has his shot to make it big time was not able to do so.

Sorry if this point has been made in the last 22 pages, but is it possible the Woodson injury is worse than we think and that's why they moved for a safety?
Patriots were a little thin at safety regardless but yes I do believe the recent Woodson injury encouraged them to look for options to increase our viable depth chart there. That does not necessarily mean the injury is more serious, just that any smart roster management would include making sure you have healthy viable options ready to go for the season.

Since you posted this before I revised my posts. I will post this again:

Half of his production in the first eight games came from games against the Raiders and Saints (11 catches for 203 yards and 2 TDs) and they were not good defenses. The other six games he had 12 catch for 212 yards and 3 TDs or a 2 catch, 35.3 yards, and 0.5 TD average.

Boutte is good, but inconsistent.
Virtually every WR in the NFL has splits like that. I shows you the exact same for Doubs and instead of learning something you keep repeating the same BS.

Diggs had 591 of 1012 receiving yards in 5 of 17 games, pretty much the same ratio.
If 5/17 don’t count (similar to 2/8) then Diggs only had 421 yards in 12 games or 34.3.

He had very good numbers in the Playoffs against a Good and Great Defenses in San Diego and Houston...66 and 75.

Before the Atlanta game he was coming off 93 - 55 and 75yds games. Boutte was a Hot WR.
Before the injury he was teaching for about 50/880/10

Damn good numbers for the guy who spends most of the game running off coverage and drawing the safety away from progression 1,2 and 3

Romeo Doubs is yet to hit the 800yds mark in a favorable Offense in Four years. I hope he proves me wrong: but he wasn't my first choice of a WR signing.

We do not know that. People assume his lack of production later in the season was due to injury. We don't know that.

A three game stretch in September when he was healthy, he had 4 catches for 62 yards and TD on 7 targets. That is an average of 1.33 catches, 20.7 yards, and 0.33 TDs a game average when healthy.

If you are going write off the post injury stretch, you gotta explain the preinjury stretches that he under performs.

Half of his production in the first eight games came from games against the Raiders and Saints (11 catches for 203 yards and 2 TDs). The other six games he had 12 catch for 212 yards and 3 TDs or a 2 catch, 35.3 yards, and 0.5 TD average.
Player produces 415 receding yards in 8 games. Player gets injured, misses all of 3 games and parts of others and produces 140 the rest of the season
We don’t know if the injury affected production?
Flat earth stuff buddy

So since Diggs average 34.3 in 13 of his 17 games does that mean he wasn’t productive?

Hollins has 20/264 in 3 games and 26/286 in 12 others. So in 12 of his 15 games he averaged 2.1/23.8.

I did I copied it in and bolded it.

You would want Boutte as X and Brown as Z and slot wouldn’t be a Wes Welker slot, in fact throughout a game, all 3 would align inside at times. You want Boutte as your lower volume coverage drawing receiver, opening up things for Brown and Doubs. Our offense has a history of X receivers being low volume, high reward receivers who spend a lot of the day running off coverage

Diggs wasn’t staying at his cost, age and injury risk.
Again I have to stress that designating the guy as progression 1 most of the time doesn’t make him good. There is a level of production you get just because you are #1 and everyone else runs routes to help you get open. Diggs actually underperformed last year. The role they put him in should have gotten over 100 catches and 1300 yards with Maye at QB.

Boutte is a different receiver than Doubs. I’m not sure where this special relationship that cannot be recreated garbage is coming from, but nice deflection.

I quoted your post and bolded your words. You said them, I didn’t put words I your mouth, I reposed them.
I have not moved any goal post or contradicted a thing.
Please tell me what you think was contradicted because you clearly don’t understand. Or that last paragraph is just you bailing out with an L I suppose

LOL! Funny you won't repost this imaginary post that you copied and posted. Here I did the research for you. Here is a search of "deep ball" of posts I made. You will see the first time I even mentioned the phrase "deep ball" in this thread was in response to you claiming I said Doubs was a better deep ball passer.

I also searched "deep" and "Doubs" for my posts and I found one post where I said Boutte had trouble getting separation last year and he won a lot of 50-50 balls and catches in tight coverage and I said that Doubs would be at getting separation than Boutte which maybe you took as he is a better deep ball WR, but separation is something is for the entire field not just deep. Here is the actual quote:

I watched Boutte play, but I also watched Drake Maye play. Maye got balls to Boutte into tight windows in good coverage. A lot of QBs wouldn't complete some of the passes to Boutte that Maye made because Boutte wasn't great at getting separation. He won a lot 50-50 ball or balls into tight coverage. Sometimes Boutte took the top off, many times he was covered. So think another receiver can replace that. I think Doubs will do better in those situations.

Maybe the "took the top off" confused you, but if you catch a ten yard catch wide open you can take the top off. Many of the catches in tight coverage or 50-50 balls to Boutte last year were not deep passes.

And you contradicted yourself many times saying you cannot compare a WR with different QBs for some arguments and then use data for WRs with different QBs to make your point in other arguments. You are all over the place.

Diggs had that game in Buffalo but his numbers was meh in games going forward; though he made some Big catches.

Andy, no one can ever say they learned anything from you.

Diggs had five games with over 100 yards. He broke his finger at some point in the season and had chest and ankle injuries last year. If we are going to give Boutte a free pass for injuries, why not Diggs?

IF Kyle Williams $h!ts the bed I'm going look at Vrabel and our FO sideways.
If Williams is out there 40 snaps a game this will be a fine trade, and Williams will likely be better at the role than Boutte.
I think what gets lost in this is that Boutte isn’t a world beater, he was a piece of the puzzle. If anyone other than Williams steps in as the primary WR3 alongside Brown and Doubs we are worse off than if we kept Boutte. And what they produce isn’t really the issue, it’s what they do not bring to the offense that Boutte does.
If you went with Boutte, Hollins, and Douglas as your 3 WRs Boutte would not get the most targets and have the best stats, but he would be the most valuable because the other 2 are getting nothing without him drawing coverage to open them up.
I could not care less what Boutte would produce in a different role, what he does in Houston or his you rank him as a WR but with Drake Maye at QB he filled very important role and unless Williams steps in we lose that facet from our offense.

I do give him credit for growing up. But I can see why the Patriots would be hesitant to give him a long term deal or commit to him.
Once his Comments this summer in his own words.. I'm going to do what's best for me.. I knew then he's gone!

Diggs missed zero games.
5/17 =29.4% of his games.
You are saying Boutte should be looked at as ineffective based upon 25% of his games.

You could learn a lot if you listened but you are too busy trying to defend the wrong things you said.

Seriously answer this. Did you not just learn that having around 50% of your yards in around 25% of your games is very common for WRs after you just laid in out as a derogatory statement on Boutte without ever looking to see if it was normal or not? Be honest.

He will prove you wrong.

Dude I posted when I cited it and bolded the comment. I’ll go find it and do it again.

A.J. Brown was a Slot WR in College so I am sure he can still play there if asked. So I hope McDaniels have Formations where he lines up Williams - Brown and Doubs: Brown is an accomplished Receiver.

Again, what was the offensive scheme in GB?? You can’t just take the raw numbers & take it at face value..

The Absence of a True Number One Receiver

“Not having a single dominant 150 target receiver is not a weakness here, it is camouflage.”

“Defenses cannot bracket one player and tilt coverage. If you double Watson vertically, Reed works the middle. If you clamp down on Reed in the slot, Golden/Wicks wins outside on isolation routes. If safeties stay deep, the run game eats light boxes.”

“Love distributes based on coverage, not reputation. That makes weekly game planning difficult. There is no single head of the snake to cut off.”

Romeo Doubs need to have a 800yds season he hasn't had one yet.
Boutte hasn’t had a 600 yard season despite having the best young QB in the game.

Barring injury Doubs will have the most productive season of his career, this despite a schedule that is absurdly tough.

Actually i dont have to you have it right here

Wait you think a 10 yard pass “takes the top off”. Do you understand what that means? It means going over the “top” ie deepest coverage.
Over 30% of Bouttes targets were over 20 yards and he caught 72% of them.
Doubs had something like 45% catch and 17% of targets.

I did not contradict myself at all.
I, correctly, pointed out that arguing what Boutte would do without Maye is irrelevant because Maye is here.
I also compared ADOT to catch rate for all Patriots WRs to educate you that context matters, then since Doubs was in the conversation I added FYI here are Doubs numbers, with no comment, comparison or additional statement.
Maybe you don’t understand “contradict” any better than “take the top off”
