I’m not used to feeling this way, but at this moment, I am really struggling to find 5 current players that I really feel strongly/care if their on the team next year. It’s probably the overall performance of the team darkening my thoughts in individual players. All I can really think of right now as player I want to build around are Maye, Barmore and Gonzalez. Maybe Onwenu and K. White. Am I missing anybody.

I'd add Henry, Boutte, and D. Andrews if he doesn't retire. I know Boutte's a reach but I think he's just getting to the point where he is playing without being mindful of the ankle injuries. I think he's got some up side.

Kinda forgot about Andrews. He would help and Henry is a solid TE. Those are solid starters. But if either decided to move on/or be moved I wouldn’t be floored.

There’s certainly a large amount of fungible talent at best on this roster. There’s not many not on your list above who shouldn’t be upgraded next year if possible.

The building blocks are Maye, Barmore (because they paid him) and Gonzalez.

Henry, White, Barringer, Douglas are the top complimentary players.

Guys who will be gone in two years are Dugger, Owenu and possibly Rham.

Everyone else are playing for their jobs.

I could be wrong in my thinking, but just seems the lack of top end talent is the worst I remember. I started following the Pats after the Bledsoe draft. Weird way to start a fandom, but everyone in my family liked fifferent teams so I chose Bledsoe and the Pats as an 8 year old.

Please add schooler to this. I see huge upside on him in being a Free safety.

If you told me that in 3 years the only members of this roster still on the team were Maye, Gonzalez, White and maybe Henry…. I wouldn’t be surprised.

Front Office To Do List:
-Sign Higgins and a #2 like D. Johnson, D. Slayton or D. Robinson
- Douglas #3 Polk, Boutte and Baker maybe develop some
-Sign a NFL caliber starting G
-Wallace at RT
-Onwenu at RG
-Try to trade back a few spots to pick up another 2nd or 3rd and draft Campbell or Banks
- Draft a mid round RB like everyone else does that turns into a solid NFL starter that doesn’t fumble

QB: Maye
RB: Stevenson, Gibson, Ollie Gordon or Nick Singleton
WR: Higgins
WR: Dem. Robinson
WR: Douglas
TE: Henry
LT: Campbell/Banks
LG: Someone good
C: Andrews
RG: Onwenu
RT: Wallace

I wouldn't look at it as "who do I want on the team next year" because contract status and short term considerations play into that. I prefer to think bigger picture as in who do I think actually will make a real difference in wins and losses on the team in 3-5 years. That's how I determine the building blocks.

Maye
Gonzalez
Barmore
White

Those are the only 4 I see. And White might be stretching it and with Barmore I'm assuming eventual return to form. The rest of the players on the roster I honestly think are relatively inconsequential. Don't get me wrong... Pop Douglas, Marcus Jones, Stevenson, Dugger, Onwenu, Boutte are solid players and probably worth having on any roster, but none of them really matter to us moving back to a contender. They don't move any needles. And then on the even shorter term guys like Henry, Godchaux, DAndrews, Wise are worth having of course too.

But yeah, if 49 out of 53 players besides those 4 are different 3 years from now, I won't really care.

The failure of the last draft and free agency was the focus on filling holes instead of finding talent. It doesn't matter the position, we need as many young blue-chip players as possible. Outside of QB, we need to sign and draft the best and stop acting like we are a good team with a few missing pieces.

This is the worst collection of talent I've seen from the Pats since I really started following the NFL in the mid 90's.

You want to pass up on the next Mike Evans in the draft? For “battle of wounded knee” Tee Higgins?
