OT Report: Caleb Williams wants partial ownership of team that picks him

Not sure why you think it’s “obvious” that equity would come out of the cap as that has never been discussed when this concept has come out…or why you think my response is irrelevant considering your post was a response to my post about circumventing the cap….but don’t take my word for it. Here is an example of an article discussing the concept of cap circumvention :

All sorts of things may have been discussed in this vale of tears. If the situation is this: teams are hoping by giving compensation in the form of equity to circumvent the cap scheme and the underlying agreement in the service of competitiveness which underlies and informs it and to which they have implicitly agreed, then those teams are acting in an obviously dishonorable manner. I would indeed have assumed such sleazeball nonsense would be rejected out of hand. I am of course prepared to be disappointed in the morality of my fellow man in such decadent times as these, but I would have thought this sort of thing - if I am understanding it right - would be clearly out of bounds for even the most morally obtuse among us.

Idea was dead in the water before Williams even floated it out there... The NFL already blocked the transfer of equity to employees (including players) this year...

It was discussed when there were rumors about Brady buying into the raiders and then playing for them... Cannot happen...

Looks like Caleb is just going to have to suffer with multi million dollar contracts... The world is so unfair, isn't it fellas... Fellas? Guys?
Would love to see his and the agents face when someone explains that to them.

Bears ownership just called the GM and said we’ll stick with Justin Fields.

If this was possible the only owner dumb enough to agree to this would be the Browns owner.

Nothing about this story is relevant anymore, and Dov is useless as usual. Is it really that hard to get sports news from real reporters instead of random weirdos on Twitter?

Mac has had 1 great pass. Davante "Fingertips" Parker dropped it.

Upon further review it looks like the DB made a good play when his left hand grabbed Parker's right arm just as the ball arrived. That forced Parker's elbow in and it gave the appearance that he short armed it.

That’s exactly what happened, and Parker himself also called it a good play today. I mean, it’s clearly illegal, but subtly illegal plays are good plays too.

Just to put the mighty Caleb Williams in perspective:

Caleb Williams - 6'1" 215 lbs
CMP% 70.0% | YDS 2,021 | AVG 10.0 | TD 23 | INT 4 | RTG 187.0 | RSH YDS 116 | RSH TDS 6 | RSH AVG 2.3
USC Strength of Schedule - 72
*demanding partial ownership of team

Jayden Daniels - 6'4" 210 lbs
CMP% 73.1% | YDS 2,294 | AVG 11.0 | TD 22 | INT 3 | RTG 197.7 | RSH YDS 515 | RSH TDS 4 | RSH AVG 6.0
LSU Strength of Schedule - 3
*not demanding partial ownership of team

It seems the agent floated this before the NFL blocked it. If not, then he needs to fire his agent.

From what I've seen this year, Maye and Penix are both better than Williams and will make better pro qbs.
I've seen all 3 play multiple games each.
Williams will be lucky to finish in the top 5 in Heisman voting.
I might even take Prime's kid Shadeur over Williams. Just not impressed by him. Very inconsistent.

Drake Maye or Caleb Williams for me. Penix has quite the injury history and he’ll be a 24yo rookie. Sanders seems like he’ll be too much of a primadonna. Who wouldn’t making $5 million a year in college.

I don't believe Williams (or his agent) believes such a thing is even possible.

What I believe is Williams wants some control over where he goes next year as the presumed #1 draft pick. The current structure of the League gives him virtually no leverage at all.

As a (future) pro athlete making millions, he will elicit little, if any, sympathy from the common man. However, IMHO, one can understand the frustration of having no control over such a huge part of your life. He can't control where he goes, he can't control how much he gets paid.

Heaven Can Wait

As a player I was pretty high on him, but yeah this is ********

If you click on it, you'll see where he posts "I'm not a businessman, I'm a business, Man"
