OT Report: Caleb Williams wants partial ownership of team that picks him

I was already in the camp that if the Pats get the #1 pick that they should consider trading down. I think this news seals that belief.

I don’t think he can get ownership stakes under the CBA especially as a rookie, but this guy seems to be too full of himself and is already making demands like trying to dictate where he goes and asking for unreasonable things as an unproven at the NFL level prospect.

Let this princess be someone else's headache.

The sense of entitlement without having actually accomplished anything yet in the post-college world is all too familiar to old farts like me who have had a belly full of it in professional life for the past 10+ years.

Idea was dead in the water before Williams even floated it out there... The NFL already blocked the transfer of equity to employees (including players) this year...

It was discussed when there were rumors about Brady buying into the raiders and then playing for them... Cannot happen...

Looks like Caleb is just going to have to suffer with multi million dollar contracts... The world is so unfair, isn't it fellas... Fellas? Guys?

I guess this was BEFORE his 3 INT performance at Notre Dame. You can't have a player as a partial owner. It is against the salary cap rules. Williams should be smart enough, or his agents to know that.

Owners can’t play in games. I think it’s in the NFL charter.

Gonna have to finish top 2 just to have a shot at the kid. At this point, i’d love to see it but it seems highly unlikely. Oh man. I’d be floored if we came away with Drake Maye and Will Shipley…why tf am I talking about the draft in October? This season really pisses me off.

I mean maybe top 3.

Bears may really like Marvin Jr.

This isn’t legal for any player in the first place, and even if it was, the CBA has specific pay structure in place for rookies that must be followed anyway. He can’t make demands about how he gets paid on his rookie deal outside of very narrow limits. Does he even have an agent? Or are his representation total idiots?

If he really expects part ownership as part of his first contract, I hope he enjoys playing for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Might be a little chillier than Southern California but hey, if he wants to be an owner……

I thought he was too short when I first heard of him. I think he's too short and too loud now.
He sounds like Cant Newton did before he was drafted.
And where does he get off demanding where to go? He must think he's a Manning.

Starting to feel a bit of Rocket Ismail deja vu. Lol

It’s funny I was just writing in another thread I have such a bad vibe about this kid. There’s something about his body language.

Too short, seems incredibly ****y, every time I watch him I think “college QB.”
Gives me Kyler Murray vibes to some extent even as far as attitude. I watched that in season Hard Knocks on the Cardinals last year and got the same feeling about Murray I did when I watched the in season Eagles Hard Knocks at the end of the Wentz era. The other players didn't really seem to like either of those quarterbacks.

I'll take your word for it the guy is a good football player (I don't follow college ball at all), but he is certainly not the sort of person I want around. It's a hard No for me. Let somebody else deal with this narcissist blowhard. We've got enough problems.

Giving players equity would make the salary cap system completely obsolete as owners would offer equity instead of salary and teams could then pay out as much as they want.
