Easy now, if you try to talk sense into the Favre ballwashers they might just call you a worthless human being Your walking on thin ice here by making sense!!
Oh, I wasn't trying to imply that Lord Favre was anything less than perfect, just that Childress and AP made him look bad with their less-than-perfect games. But that's not Brett's fault. He's just a fun-loving guy who loves to play the game and spends the summers on his tractor and...
convertedpatsfan always makes sense, I feel sorry for him,lol
That's not true. Just ask my wife if I make sense all the time
What are your thoughts on the Pats failing at the end of the game against the Colts? Who takes the blame in your mind for that loss?
The thing here is that it's not just about the failing at the
end of the game. There were a lot of different things that could have changed that outcome, especially to start the second half.
Don't forget the Pats got the ball to start the 3rd quarter. They're up 10, they drive the ball to the Indy 33 and then take a shot with Moss in the end zone, and the ball gets intercepted by a safety Brady never saw coming. That was a huge turnover.
Indy took over and then Peyton throws a pick at the New England 24. So we take the ball, drive all the way back down the field again to Indy's 2 yard line, and then Maroney fumbles, touchback. Back-to-back turnovers in the end zone.
Indy would end up punting, and thanks to Wes Welker's return, we have 1st and goal and finally score another TD. Some would say that because we scored, the turnovers didn't matter, but that's not true. We've missed two golden opportunities to put points on the board. A field goal from either of those possessions changes the game, and a TD from Maroney could have sealed it.
Another moment: Manning gets picked again midway through the 4th quarter, and we've got the ball at Indy's 31. We pick up a 1st down at Indy's 20, and suddenly the play-calling gets conservative. We're thinking field goal for the points, rather than going for the TD and the win here. Short pass to Moss for 4. 2nd and 6, we run Faulk out of the shotgun (see the Faulk Shotgun run flow chart) for a loss of 2. 3rd and 8, we go conservative and try a short pass to Faulk that falls incomplete, and we settle for the FG.
This all happened before that ridiculous PI call, before 4th and 2, and the defense that couldn't seem to stop Manning.
So who is to blame for the Colts loss? Everyone. The entire team. The coaches, the players, the offense, the defense, the QB, the RBs, the DBs, the OL, the DL...we can argue whose mistake mattered the most or which missed opportunity hurt the most, but the bottom line is there were a lot of opportunities to win this game, and we just didn't do enough in the second half. To blame it on the 4th and 2 call, or that phantom PI call isn't fair or accurate.
Sorry if that came out a bit strong. The wound still hurts a bit.
