Stidham looks like his happy feet issue is back. Not ideal.

He is the “starter” but I wonder if he’s really playing for a roster spot.

Colts run defense has issues… same as it ever was

All these rookie qbs looking good playing a good amount and NE decides its best to play literally one series and sit.

To be fair Daniel’s played 1 series, just happened to be a TD drive so had more plays. With that being said Maye should have had more snaps, Zappe should not be on the team, let Milton and Maye try to develop with more reps.

15-21 for 125, efficient but the concerns going in about him being a guy who throws a lot of short passes are still there. Can he be a guy who can attack a defense by pushing the ball downfield?

With Payton as his coach he will develop nicely.
People said the same thing about Brees when he came out of the draft

Went ahead and reviewed Nix, McCarthy and Penix on all-22.

I am hard on the QB's, because playing QB is the hardest position in sports. There are 15 guys in the NFL that can do it well, maybe. Brady is completely right in that the QB play is not great in the NFL these days but the coordinators are so good it makes up for a lot. This does not mean they cannot improve; this is just where they are today.

Bo Nix:
Had 4, yes 4 balls that could have been intercepted, his first 2 absolutely should have been. He's really good at throwing the short out to his right and left. Down the field was bad, does not see the whole field, panics in pocket a bit. First read, first read, first read. Not a good showing but matches his college tape.

Penix, just bad, has that funky throwing upper body that seems is unfixable and will lead to forever inaccuracies. Atlanta made a bad decision drafting a QB they did not need that does not look like an NFL QB.

JJ McCarthy:
So refreshing, we finally have a guy that looks like an NFL QB! He had a college vs pro interception were the window looked good and in college it was, in the pros, easy pick, he will learn from that. Throws with anticipation, throws with velocity, goes thru read but makes fast decisions, will take a hit. He will throw a ton of picks early but if he learns to rain in the aggressiveness he looks like a good NFL starter. He's one of the younger ones too.

Rankings after first pre-season week with college tape taken into consideration a little bit:

Potential solid or better NFL starters
1: JJ McCarthy-He played the best of any of the rookie QB's, not even close IMO
2: Caleb Williams

The not ready to be an NFL starter level and no college or pro tape suggesting they ever will:
3: Nix
4: Penix

Incomplete:
Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye-Just not enough plays to make a conclusion.

Daniel Jones…woof.

Everything that is wrong with this era of the NFL. Mediocre to bad players are getting a **** ton of money while the all time greats that paved the way for these schmucks got paid jack ****.

Yep. Mac Jones did this on occasion but at least he was not the $160M man like Daniel….

Daniel Jones would've been a backup 20+ years ago.

Eh Milton did it better lol

He's an enigma, can't process well, afraid to throw over the middle, can't seem to see in the pocket very well, scared to get hit, throws many off-balance bad throws and then lays multiple off-balance dimes you know only him and Mahomes can make. His whole game seems to be off script playmaking. Can you make a whole career out of off script playmaking? If you do it almost 100% of the time? Guess we are going to find out.

Exciting to watch, must watch TV this year, he will win the highlights but still not convinced he's more than a middle of the road QB.

He's going to gas the offensive and defensive lines.

I think you would have to go a long way back to find where NFL players were paid jack----. Probably to before SB1. No sympathy here. I gave up my tickets in 82 when they went on strike.

I kept saying Caleb Williams is a huge talent. Boggled my mind that so many people labeled him a bust. The throw to Odunze down the sidelines looked like a Mahomes throw -- but better.

I don’t know of many that labeled him a bust, generational talent was way more common.

What about his multiple crap throws around the Odunze throw?
