OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Must be really tough for Gronk. I wonder if he was surprised too that he did walk away playing at such a high level.
I do hope he keeps playing because he is so much fun to watch. If he can sign with Cincy or the Bills that would perfect for him.
Bills would be interesting and so would 49rs. It's rare to have two top tight ends on the same team.

Gronk just needs to be patient and wait for the 49ers to get Brady.

Gronk and Brady to the 49ers would make them unstoppable...

I am sure Brady has told him as much if he is thinking about coming back. His whole retirement was very strange.

You don’t normally begin to walk back your retirement 6 days later. Especially when you never really used the word “retirement”

Brady and Gronk would make the 49ers sickening. Shannahan's scheme with Gronk and Kittle blocking? Brady using play-action and throwing to those two + Samuel and Aiyuk? They're the only team I can see him coming back for. Fit + childhood team.

Looking at the main forum, there's still a lot of animosity towards Brady. Not sure why but whatever. I can see any Brady news that ends up in the main forum, devolving into a food fight, especially considering the Bucs still have him on their roster.

At first I thought having a separate Brady forum was a joke but it worked out ok given there were few posters that bothered to troll the sub-forum (aside from Mac10, Tunes and this tom666 character).

It's now a place dedicated to Tom Brady (and maybe Gronk), two of the Patriots GOATs in team history. Not a bad thing to have on Patsfans. It's ironic that the same people that complained about the Brady threads on the main forum are now lobbying for the sub-forum to be squashed. I'm sure they'll make it impossible to have any discussions of his past, future, and present w/o it becoming a constant fight on the main forum. Their issue isn't with threads or subforums, it's with Brady himself. It's f**king weird AF.

Not sure if you all saw this, but even Barry McCockiner gave up…lol…which is good because despite his Brady hate, he’s probably the funniest sports guy on Twitter. But his anti-Brady takes were basically the reason he got so many followers.

Ha Is Rob Parker next?

Actually it just occurred to me, Brady needs to go to Green Bay and win them a Super Bowl.

Goes to show you that folks made a living off of Brady and now they realize it is over. Pretty sad when you decide to make this line of hate posting on social media your career to the point that it makes you hate your passion. I have never understood it. I believe Scott Kascmar probably feels the same.

True…though Barry did come around on this even before the retirement. The Tampa Bay experiment and Rodgers/Mahomes choking again were just too much. I wonder who Barry really is…likely some midwesterner who rooted for the Colts or maybe a Steelers fan.

It is amazing how Brady’s legacy is so much more bulletproof now. I think when he left the Patriots you had maybe 30-40% of NFL fans who were still willing to acknowledge he was the GOAT but then would say “by accomplishments, although he wasn’t any better than…”

That entire segment is gone now. You simply have about 1% of fans who will never come around (like Timmy) and then everyone else calling him the GOAT with no qualifiers.

I was debating this a couple of months ago in the main forum about Brady's legacy and how much it was impacted when he went to Tampa and won. People told me that he was already the GOAT so it didn't matter. <eyeroll> Nothing could be further from the truth. He was seen through the lens of Bill's machine and a product of a system/culture. Remember Dungy saying Manning would have won 7-8 ring with Bill? That was the narrative and it changed completely when he went to Tampa and won in year one going through the gauntlet of QBs- Brees/Rodgers/Mahomes. It was also significant that Tampa gave him FULL credit for the championship from the owner to the GM to Arians. It pretty much cemented him as the GOAT in a way that no other great player has ever had happen so late in their career. It was a legacy changer and made his resume that much more difficult for anyone to ever get close to. That is also why Burrow said when he was drafted "Please do not compare me to the greatest player ever."

Good interview from Evans here. He talks about how much the TB12 method helped him and his teammates the last 2 years. He also talks about the AB situation too. I really like this guy a lot. I hope he continues to have success.

"Had Brady listened to conventional wisdom, had he accepted the judgments of others about who and what he was, had he retired before the age of 40 as most quarterbacks are expected to, we would have missed this most crucial fact about him. His greatness was not in the power of his arm but in the power of his intention to decide for himself who he wanted to be."

Nice article by Sally Jenkins.

He lost a bet or is being blackmailed. This guy is an absolute clown!

Won't happen but what if Brady comes back to NE, rights the wrong that happened a couple years ago, and wins a SB.

Mac will probably be sent packing and I think Bill goes out the door too if that happens but it's a fun "what if" to think about.

Maybe he's tired of being banned from Twitter. It's been at least a couple dozen times I'm sure. LOL
