OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Given Kansas City’s health and Tampa Bay’s health, I think a rematch would have been a really tall task. Kansas City has spent a year figuring out how to counter the two high safety coverage and the offensive line is stellar. Their defense is also better than last year.

I was watching with my wife and I told her the second I saw they had all 3 timeouts that they would go to kelce in the middle and convert twice to give the kicker a chance. I think everyone here was thinking the same thing. I don't know what they were doing but some major defensive blunders today by a few teams in the most important moments. Kelce WIDE OPEN to the 30.

Multiple defensive coordinators ignoring the reality that short completions were their friend...

That's not even high school level stuff they both blew.

They would of smoked them. With a full line and Godwin and AB, probably still lose unless they can maintain the lead and possession advantage. Mahomes won't fall for the same thing twice unless he has no choice but to try and hit home runs because they are behind.

I don’t know how you design a coverage to give a very easy opening for thr offense to convert the exact play you’re trying to prevent. I figured Kansas City would have something up its sleeve, but I didn’t imagine it was taking what the defense gives it.

Well I’m now the worlds biggest Rams fan because only they have a chance to stop the Chiefs.
Gotta respect Mahomes man. He's cold as ice and thinks he can overcome anything Who does that remind you of? They just won the Superbowl today. The LA Rams line can't do to him what they did to Brady.

I guess they took Hill away? With timeouts it seemed obvious to me before they even did it that Kelce in the middle was where Mahomes would go. Easy to say from here though.

Mahomes has balls. So does Allen. Maybe this next generation won’t freeze up in the big moments like Manning, Rodgers, and Brees.

I feel bad for Allen because what a performance. This is what the NFL wanted, no defense and all offense. QBs running around almost baiting defenders to touch them.

13 seconds will be a number that will haunt Bills fans forever.

Btw the non call on Tyreek for taunting is ridiculous. The rule is there for exactly that BS and with Allen needing a TD for the win they don't even call it. It didn't end up mattering but come on.

Well, I’m a very vaine person so there is one silver lining in the Chiefs winning today. IF, and this is a big giant IF, Mahomes gets to the Super Bowl and loses then it’ll be worse for him than if he lost today. Does that make logical sense? Hell no. Why should someone be punished for not losing earlier right? Well in the NFL for QBs they are. Brady was for YEARS. And so fairs fair, if Mahomes gets to another Super Bowl and loses to drop to 1-2 in the big game that’s a damaging hole to dig out of legacy wise.

Come on man, lol. Just enjoy it. We beat them in the playoffs. I won't cheer for them over Cinci or SF but I absolutely want him to annihilate McVay.

I am an extremely bitter person.
Then maybe they can all lose!! It's too bad Jimmy isn't a bit better and not injured because maybe they can keep Mahomes off the field long enough to do it.

I don’t care who wins as long as it’s not the Chiefs. That why I was so hot for the Bills today. If they won it would be a total stress free rest of the playoffs for me. Sigh

It's too early for this kind of stuff. How did Mahomes look last year in the Super Bowl? These careers are long, and players become gun shy over time.

At the end, I was pulling for the Bills because I was thinking no one more deserves to win a championship than Josh Allen in 2021. He was on another plane of existence. I don't know a team can have “the number one defense,” get an other worldly performance like that, and lose.

I think this will be the case. Bucs cap situation next year is very generous. Also easy to move more cap around by him signing some fake extension. They have space to reload and go for one last ride.
TB12 is already on a contract with two voidable years, the ultimate in fake extensions. He has a $42M cap hit in 2022 if he does not play, so Tampa better pray he does. His contract automatically voids in 2023 and even that season he's gonna cost Tampa $24M in dead cap. Kinda like where we were last year, taking tens of millions of dollars in cap hits for a guy who isn't even on the team. Seems hard to make the numbers work for 2023 but that's more Tampa's problem than Tom's since if he wants to keep playing he's a FA and can walk.

Stupid Bills ruined the weekend. Oh well go Bengals although I think they're going to get killed. Mahomes is on fire
