OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

At some point you just have to stop crying about the refs. I feel like teams that do that always remain losers because they never do what it really takes to just win.

I mean it's sports. Bad calls are going to happen. The really great teams always rise above that.
I agree

except I’m still going to ***** about 2006, 2015, 2017 lmao

You can't really protect running QBs. I mean, you can limit their runs a bit, but there's not much to be done beyond that. That's why I laugh when people talk about pocket passers as if their ceilings are automatically lower and/or they should be passed on in the draft.

The NFL has done everything short of putting flags on the QBs, but injuries are still going to happen, and they're going to happen more often if your QB is also doubling as a running back.
Yeah I dont see Allen lasting a long time, he just looks for hits at this point.

That is why I want nothing to do with running QBs. It used to be that you had to wait 3 years to see how a QB develops but now the running QBs aren't even making it to 3 years before coming up lame. Losing any player sucks but especially the starting QB.

700 TDs and 100,000 yards.

Gretzky will be the Brady of hockey.

He's gonna set his records to Jerry Rice levels of unbreakable...and if he Qb sneaks in 1 more TD, he will actually break one of Rice's records too. (most TDs after 40 currently tied at 10)

I got the above from one of the comments. Lamar and those.other mobile QBs don't have a prayer of beating this record.

I think a kid like Herbert possibly could. He doesn't run around like a chicken with his head cut off, has a cannon for an arm, seems smart and accurate. He's already joined Marino as only 2 players w/ 60 TDs in their 1st 2 seasons. I like the kid. Of course, lasting 20 years in the league is the biggest challenge.

I think QBs like Herbert, Burrows, and Mac have a good chance to last close to but short of 20 years.
Brees just turned 42 in his last year. Rivers 39. Ben will be done this year at 39. The Mannings retired at 37-38?
40 seems to be the limit before a Qb is done.
If Brady gets maybe 5 more rushing TD, the record will be nearly unbreakable.

#Bucs announce they have added P Sterling Hofrichter, an @ArmwoodHawksfb alum, to the practice squad. Bradley Pinion had a net average of 37.4 yards on five attempts Sunday.

Bucs announce they’re placing running back Gio Bernard on injured reserve with hip and knee injuries. He’ll miss the next three games at least.

Does this increase Rojo or Vaughn's pt?

Neither substantially. Bernard has played 15 total offensive snaps in the last three games. I’m guessing Jones gets an extra series or two as the main back to help offset Fournette handling even more third-down work. Not sure if/how Vaughn fits in.

If they run the table with four straight wins, the Bucs would be assured the No. 2 seed and at least two home playoff games in the same postseason for the first time since 1979.

Oh, I was talking about Brady records in general, not the >40 ones. He'll have those for a very long time, I agree.

I missed this yesterday:

Per NFL Next Gen Stats, Tom Brady’s maximum speed yesterday against the Bills was 15.38 mph, which came on his scramble up the middle. Vita Vea’s was 14.77 on Josh Allen’s 7-yard scramble in the fourth quarter. Leonard Fournette was fastest with 21.29 mph on his 47-yard TD.

I like that setup. Avoid LAR, DAL, & GB until 1 is left standing. Take care of WFT & ARI/SF at home. No problem.

I hope it's JimmyG against the GOAT in TPA.

Edit: if SF beats ARI, I guess they play GB. Go ARI.

Yes. They’re better off playing Arizona than Dallas or LA. I’d still take the #1 seed in a split second, but that would be an ideal situation. However, I don’t know if Arizona will even hold up for #3. They still play at Dallas.
