OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Everyone loves sacks and rightfully so but today's nfl is about coverage and DBs.

I just see sacks as often finishing a great overall great defensive play by the team. The quarterback ran out of time and options. No doubt some guys are better than others at getting to the QB and finishing the tackle. But overall the entire concept of “a sack” is massively overrated. A shutdown corner, or a stellar secondary, is often the key to so many defensive wins during the game which don’t get credited like sacks.

I was running through a list of the top defenses in the league in DVOA. Almost all of them have a great CB. Rams (Ramsey), Bills (White), Patriots (Jackson), Cowboys (Diggs), Saints (Lattimore.) Then I looked at the highest sack guys like Watt. There was almost no correlation with overall defensive success.

Why are the Panthers safeties like 20 yards deep? Lol

Gronk has over 100 yards receiving

Brady to Evans for the TD.

24-10

Jimmy G threw a pick while on the Rams 22 yard line to try and take a lead. Haunting Brady beyond the grave.

Murphy-Bunting showed terrible ball skills on that TD against him.

Well, Jimmy has one chance to redeem himself.

Brady to Evans for another TD.

And Brady has his league leading 9th 300 yard game.

Carolina doesn't punt, instead going on 4th down. They fail to convert, and Miller takes an end around in for a TD (33 yards).

41-17, and the game's all over but the shouting.

Rodgers has nothing except low INT.

Same team record while Brady has 6 more TD's, 1200 more yards and the most completed passes in history.

It's Brady's to lose.
