OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

The roughing the passer call on Winfield’s INT is going to get called 100% of the time. Why hit the QB? Honestly. You’re frustrated, I get it, but pushing the QB after the pass? Automatic penalty. So stupid. Late in the game, an encroachment penalty on a 3rd and 5 that would have potentially ended the game with a punt.
Sure but how can you miss a hands to the face like that on the same play? Can’t be more blatant than that. What would have happened if they had called the rushing the passer and the hands to the face? Offset penalty and you replay the down or the INT stands?

The offside on 3rd & 5 was embarrassing. There was 2s left on the play clock

Brady is still the favorite in the MVP race IMO.

He was that far ahead of everyone else going into yesterday and even with a subpar game against the Saints he still might be.

I want Brady to get another ring not another MVP. I’d have happily seen him throw 0 TDs and 2 INTs yesterday but win the game via the running backs then do what he did. It’s why Mac had the more satisfying day in my eyes.

They two aren’t actually mutually exclusive, despite all the garbage about “the curse.” In fact, most of them have even made it to the SB despite having outlier bad luck for the last 20 years. Warner (2001), Gannon (2002), Alexander (2005), Brady (2007, 2010), Manning (2009, 2013), Newton (2015), and Ryan (2016) make nine times the MVP has made the Super Bowl. Just freak luck.

Winning MVP likely means they’ll get top seeding anyway.

Well he still leads in yards and touchdowns so he has a shot. AB comes back too his most trustworthy receiver

Objectively, he isn’t. I think if they’d won, he’d be the favorite, but the loss moves him back into the pack. The sites I’m seeing have a consensus of:

Allen 2-1
Brady 4-1
Murray 4-1
Prescott 4-1
Rodgers 6-1
Stafford 6-1

The losers running to this thread to taunt the reigning SB champs who are STILL 1st in their division. Didn’t you do this last year after the first game - how’d that turn out? Sad you hate TB more than you love your own team. The Bucs will be fighting for the #1 seed, NOT a wildcard spot. And that’s the difference.

I mean Bucs will lose 3-4 games so they have to celebrate when they can such bums

It's not Brady, it's people like you we like seeing disappointed...

The media as a whole are clowns and don't they vote for this? I would think based on that that currently Stafford is leading and Rodgers/Murray are next. The way they overhyped his win last week was ridiculous. He played well and deserves credit but anything more than that is insane.

Still leads the league in yards, TD, TD:INT, yards per game and is near the top in AY/A. I thought he led in DVOA for passers but he’s 2nd now behind Stafford.

I think what might be in his way is the voters wanting to recognize someone new but then again they might want to make history with a 44 year old winning this award. We’ll see.

  • Gain #1 seed in conference, or at least a bye (if not #1 seed, a very dominant season)
  • Have big statistical season
This worked for Rodgers 2020, Jackson 2019, Mahomes 2018, Brady 2017, Ryan 2016 (#2 seed but got bye), Newton 2015, Rodgers 2014 (#2 seed but got bye), Manning 2013, Rodgers 2011, Brady 2010, and Manning 2009.

50 TDs and #1 seed is a lock. 50 TDs and 14-3/13-4 regardless of seed, will get it done barring someone else having an outlier year.

The media stuff is idiotic…the sportsbooks know what’s going on. A lot of this is correlated to team success, which is why Allen leads the pack. They’re more confident that Buffalo gets the #1 seed in the AFC than the dog fight in the NFC.

Brady's situational IQ has gone down since he left new england. Down by 1 in the 4th, you just need to dink and dunk your way to field goal range. At this point he is too in love with his arm and his lack of patience at his age is showing. it's killing the team ability to win close games. He needs a Belichick to balance his impulse, Arian is not that guy.

what a clown man do you fools know they won the Super Bowl last year holy ****ing **** it’s bad in here. Pats win one game and Bucs lose and all hell breaks lose

As you know, I’m completely with you, as we discussed with the QB rankings the QB is 95% and the coach is 5%.

However, the Saints have built an outlier system with the use of athletic linemen, screen passes, and short crossers. There’s a reason why Brees was the lowest in the league among recognized QBs in air yards/attempt, often by a wide margin, and yet putting up passer ratings over 110.

I’d argue the difference between Belichick and Payton from 2010-19 is largely due to the QB play down the stretch. In the postseason, teams create more tailored gameplans and made Brees beat them over the top. He couldn’t. Brady won so many postseason games where he needed to go balls to the wall; I don’t remember Brees winning any.

If Peyton had Brady he’d be the GOAT coach

There is no chance the Chiefs beat the Packers next week.

I’d like to see if Vegas adjusts the Chiefs. They’ve mainly held off for now as I think most of the public thought the Chiefs would ultimately figure it out. But I’d be surprised if the Chiefs remain -3 against a 7-1 team. I’m guessing sharps hit the Giants +10 tonight.

You have no idea what you're talking about.
