Mike Evans vs Stephon Gilmore
Mike Evans Faces Off Against Stephon Gilmore | Patriots vs. Buccaneers | Wk 5 Player Highlights - YouTube
I wonder if this will be the matchup again. I wouldn't count on the Bucs QB being as inaccurate as he was here.
Not that I've heard, but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened.Isnt Phil a degenerate gambler with conspiracy theories that he’s thrown matches?
For the first time since winning the Super Bowl, Tom Brady is throwing footballs again at the Bucs’ training complex.
The quarterback and about 10 teammates, including backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert, tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Cameron Brate, and receivers Mike Evans and Antonio Brown, held their impromptu passing camp at the AdventHealth Training Center Friday morning.
Arians had offered Brady a chance to hold the throwing sessions at the Bucs’ facility. He promised there would be no coaches and the players could come and go as they please and have access to everything from practice fields to the locker room and weight room.
Arians was concerned that if an injury occurred to a player while working out away from the facility, their contract would not be guaranteed.
Apparently, Brady finally took Arians up on that offer, as the group took the field around 7 a.m. Brady wore a creamsicle jersey but no helmet and a light brace on his left knee, which underwent a surgical procedure in February.
Brady appeared to move easily, and his arm looked as strong as it did during the 2020 season as he ripped a seam route to Gronkowski, who made a juggling catch.
The workout looked like the ones Brady held a year ago at Berkeley Prep during the pandemic.
But when it comes to his team’s mandatory minicamp next week, Brady may not be performing much of his usual on-field function.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Tampa Bay head coach Bruce Arians said he wants to make sure Brady’s knee is safe and that he’s not getting chased around on the field. So Arians isn’t sure how many reps Brady will get.
“He may be doing a lot of coaching,” Arians said, via Jenna Laine of ESPN.
Every time I read these stories, it is baffling to me that Bill never let Brady do this and in fact was stripping him of influence in 2019. It is really head shaking. I mean Arians to me has always been a bit of a clown but has really handled Brady extremely well and as a result he has a super motivated GOAT leading his team.
His positivity isn’t boundless, however. On Tuesday, Arians said he’s been happy with what he’s seen from the 40 or so players that have been participating in organized team activities but that he thinks some of the players who have been missing may be missing some writing on the wall.
“These guys out here are working their ass off,” Arians said, via Greg Auman of TheAthletic.com. “I’d like to see about 10 more of them that are fighting for jobs that they don’t know they’re fighting for.”
Arians didn’t specify which players, but he did say that he hopes running back Ke'Shawn Vaughn, who worked out with the group organized by quarterback Tom Brady Tuesday, makes a “better decision” later this week.
Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians told reporters on Tuesday that Tryon is “real close” to making his first appearance of the offseason. Arians also said that he expects Tryon to be on the field when the team holds their mandatory minicamp next week.
Tryon opted out of the 2020 season, so his next practice session will be his first in quite some time.
If the Buccaneers won’t be keeping four quarterbacks on the roster, the longest-tenured signal-caller with the organization could be the first one to go.
On Tuesday, coach Bruce Arians declined to characterize Ryan Griffin as the “odd man out.”
“There are so many things that can happen between now and September 9 — nobody is out,” Arians said. “That’s for sure. Ryan, he comes out here and he’s as efficient as anybody we have. So no, I wouldn’t say that.”
After Arians spoke to the media, Brady posted a video to his Instagram account to commemorate being 100 days away from their season opener. Brady wrote “100 days out. 100 percent effort. 100 percent capacity!” as a caption and he showed he’s closer to 100 percent healthy.
Brady was not wearing any brace or protective sleeve on his left knee, which is a change from past workouts and a sign that he is well on the way to being ready for the Cowboys on September 9.
