OT: McDaniels to Chargers, pre-game: "We own you!"

And the reason you think he's flawed is because he didn't call dink and dunk plays with 80 yards to go and 30 seconds left in the Super Bowl. It's not your bias against McD which people have a problem with. It's the REASON why you think he's flawed which is just ridiculous.

I have NEVER written or advocated what you just made up above. My criticism has always been that like Martz, McKid is stubborn/egotistical, doesn't adjust, and that his predictable play calls get exposed against clever D-coordinators. He hasn't done anything with the Donkeys to prove otherwise, with his ego spats with Cutler and Phillips, and his chest thumping after barely beating the Pats.

You can try to pull things out of your arse all you want to spin my views, it still doesn't change the fact that with 90 seconds left, all 3 timeouts and needing only a FG, that we pissed the game away on 4 straight sideline bomb plays when the middle of the field was wide open. Interestingly enough, he called the same garbage for that miracle play against the Bengals this year, a play which should have been picked off.

OK, I'm not stepping into this fight, but I thought there was only like 33 seconds left when the O came back on the field. I have no idea about the number of time outs. I was at the game and never rewatched it (and never will) plus repression has kicked in, so can someone verify how much time was actually left?

First of all, I guess the McKid ball washers have succeeded by deflecting this thread showing how much of a punk he is, into yet another pointless Superbowl discussion where they'll just repeat the same points ignoring the previous facts presented.

I stand corrected, there were 35 seconds and all 3 timeouts remaining, to move about 40 yards to tie with a FG. You can see from the play by play below that there were 4 straight shot gun plays called; if you watch the tape again they were 4 straight crappy sideline bombs to piss the game away. Once again, we had all 3 timeouts left, did not use the middle of the field once.

Thanks. I seem to remember Brady missing (edit: when I say "missing", I mean not throwing to him) Welker open in the middle of the field with a ton of running room. I think I remember a sack too, ut maybe not. After that it's really hazy.

OK, time to start repressing again.

Mav, you have no clue of even how much time was left on the clock at that point. How are any of us supposed to trust that you know where the Giants were rolling their coverage at that point in time?

First off, the Giants had all but sealed off the screen pass with both their coverage tendencies and their pass rush at that point in time. That particular play for our offense had been taken out of the equation because they were able to get to Brady with a four man pass rush and still blanket our receivers. Secondly, at what point do you put the blame on Brady for throwing those bombs and take it off of McDaniels? Last I checked, McDaniels' job was to call the offense. Taking Moss deep would have taken two guys with him and would have, at least you thought, taken the pressure off of some of the receivers underneath. The fact that Brady threw to Moss is not McDaniels' fault when there were clearly other options to go to. Last, but not least, this type of play calling did not lose us the game. That's the point that people try to make when talking with you about this. When you blame the loss on this series, you sound absolutely ******ed.

We lost this game due to a number of things, the biggest being that Stephen Neal broke his leg and his replacement didn't do nearly as good of a job sealing off the interior of the offensive line to protect Brady. It wasn't the rush from the sides that did us in, it was the rush they were getting up the middle. Oh, and let's not forget a miracle catch given up on the other side of the ball. But no. Let's not blame these things! Let's absolutely show our bias towards McDaniels and blame him for it. Yeah. That's the ticket!
