It was definitely before the Bills game. I’ll guess Chargers.
I think it was the Chargers game, when he put Maye back in after he got a concussion.

what would firing mayo at the end have accomplished? AVP isn't stepping in and then throwing a game in his only shot at head coach. Probably the opposite actually. Not the best look for the Krafts that 2 years in a row they basically decided to fire their coach before the end of the season but instead of going an interim route they just left them out to dry and by extension the team and the rest of the staff.
BB was a special circumstance as it deserved however obvious it may have been it deserved the dog and pony show of the end of the year "mutual decision" but with Mayo they should have cut bait as soon as possible. Not blaming him for beating Buff as I'm generally anti tank but to have him involved in that when you obviously already knew you were firing after the game was a mistake.
I Don't really have a good answer. Accountability I guess. Just saying it's not a good look but I suppose constantly having interims like the raiders or something is a much worse look.what would firing mayo at the end have accomplished? (The ray Lewis kinda threw me for a loop.. but okay then.)Not the best look for the Krafts that 2 years in a row they basically decided to fire their coach before the end of the season but instead of going an interim route they just left them out to dry and by extension the team and the rest of the staff.

This. Not sure we knew Mayo was gone, and some of us feared he would be given another year.
In that case a whole lot of us would have been gone and by the last game empty stadium Kraft knew it too.
This.
It isn’t revisionist as I was saying out loud “if Mayo stays, I’m not watching a game, reading a story, etc until he’s gone.
I literally came to hate him.
Just reminded me too much of so many corporate tools who spout nonsense bullet-points but can’t actually DO anything.
Well, once they are between the white lines there is nothing he can do to help them.I have actually never seen a person less prepared to coach a team. Someone, possibly Vedard, was talking about it and said the difference between Mayo and Vrabel is night and day. That Mayo surveyed practices like a CEO, whereas Vrabel is actively involved with all of the coaching, and keeps the tempo and expectations high at all times. Mayo ran games the same way, like he was just an observer, and they just never looked prepared for their opponents. Overall it was one of the worst coaching jobs I have ever seen.

When they come off the field, you can point out errors, and at halftime you can make adjustments. Coaching doesn't stop when the coin flip is made.Well, once they are between the white lines there is nothing he can do to help them.

It would’ve been a difficult decision for me when it came time to renew ticketsI wouldn’t have watched another season with Mayo coaching.
