The decision to fire Mayo was after

Not the best look for the Krafts that 2 years in a row they basically decided to fire their coach before the end of the season but instead of going an interim route they just left them out to dry and by extension the team and the rest of the staff.

BB was a special circumstance as it deserved however obvious it may have been it deserved the dog and pony show of the end of the year "mutual decision" but with Mayo they should have cut bait as soon as possible. Not blaming him for beating Buff as I'm generally anti tank but to have him involved in that when you obviously already knew you were firing after the game was a mistake.
what would firing mayo at the end have accomplished? AVP isn't stepping in and then throwing a game in his only shot at head coach. Probably the opposite actually.

I Don't really have a good answer. Accountability I guess. Just saying it's not a good look but I suppose constantly having interims like the raiders or something is a much worse look.

(The ray Lewis kinda threw me for a loop.. but okay then.)

Lmao.. looking back on it.. I actually felt bad for Mayo in a sense the guy was set up to fail, and didn't do himself any favors with his public comments. However he didn't deserve to be a HC as he hadn't gone the route to become one and earn it like others have.

Mayo I feel was fired before the bills game. His body language showed that of a man who was dejected.. I recall the reports pre game.. :

I do firmly believe Jonathon is making many of the decisions
I do firmly believe he knew Mayo was a goner mid way thru the season, only having to convince his father.
he did coming off that buy week with the team playing poorly
the announcement was a formality

Not sure we knew Mayo was gone, and some of us feared he would be given another year.

In that case a whole lot of us would have been gone and by the last game empty stadium Kraft knew it too.
This.

It isn’t revisionist as I was saying out loud “if Mayo stays, I’m not watching a game, reading a story, etc until he’s gone.

I literally came to hate him.

Just reminded me too much of so many corporate tools who spout nonsense bullet-points but can’t actually DO anything.

As Coach Vrabel told the team in episode 1 of Forged in Foxboro. Why the Fu*k would I care what went wrong last season.

I have actually never seen a person less prepared to coach a team. Someone, possibly Vedard, was talking about it and said the difference between Mayo and Vrabel is night and day. That Mayo surveyed practices like a CEO, whereas Vrabel is actively involved with all of the coaching, and keeps the tempo and expectations high at all times. Mayo ran games the same way, like he was just an observer, and they just never looked prepared for their opponents. Overall it was one of the worst coaching jobs I have ever seen.

Well, once they are between the white lines there is nothing he can do to help them.

I wouldn’t have watched another season with Mayo coaching.

When they come off the field, you can point out errors, and at halftime you can make adjustments. Coaching doesn't stop when the coin flip is made.

I wouldn’t have watched another season with Mayo coaching.
It would’ve been a difficult decision for me when it came time to renew tickets

Right after Baloney Bob missed the HOF did Mayo become expendable.

After the embarrassment of his first Presser
Even Thunder didn’t want his coach to mention the word Thunder 347 times in 30 minutes

As soon he had to back off the Brinks truck comment he was done for. He had no power.

I wish him and his family well. He was a highly respected player and assistant for a lot of years. I’d like get back to thinking of him in that light again. I’m getting there quickly.

It was obvious he was in far over his head. The ups and downs were so sporadic that aside from a few blowouts it was hard to say why this team won or lost games. Play well one week in a win or a loss and then the next week look like a bottom 5 team.

If I had to guess, termination began from a combination of the unrelenting whip lash they received from the Colts game where they lose by 1. Take a beatdown by the Cardinals, play the Bills to a 3 point loss, take another beatdown by the Chargers and then play the Bills well again.

Consistently not consistent, not improving, complete Disarray with no direction. Game over,

It would’ve been a difficult decision for me when it came time to renew tickets

Understandably. Kraft should have made this years season tickets free, as payback for paying so much for a total **** product in 2024. But then he would only be worth 7.5 billion, instead of 7.51 billion. I’m not sure he could survive in that. Jonathan would be eating a lot of bologna sandwiches.
