Respect. I don't ever remember saying they were unaware or that they had forgotten. My premise, as it relates to Revis and not anyone else, is that his comment was nowhere near what others have said, including some of the names in your post and the hypothetical about Marshall Faulk. Therefore, I believe Bill would have him back in a heartbeat if he felt Revis could still meet the standard at a reasonable contract. Bill wants to win and that's all.
When you go to battle with someone, and especially win it all with that person, it becomes different kind of relationship entirely. Example, I fought a teammate in high school. Brutal. Neither of us held back. I know I damn sure didn't. I was trying to kill dude. We played together for three years before that occurred. We're adults now and we talk about it often. I never forgot what he said to make me that angry. It cut deep. But it's been long forgiven. If I had to suit up with him today, be it on the court or at his wedding, I'd do it gladly. It's not the greatest analogy, but I think it makes the point nonetheless. I don't see how you're missing what I'm saying. Revis is not Faulk, Goodell, Johnson (who's probably still upset NE didn't want him after he professed a desire to play for them) or any other name you can find, nor is what he said on the same level. I'm sure the Patriots are well aware of what Revis said. All that **** about blocking out the noise is for the media. They hear everything. But in Revis' case, I don't think they'd forgo signing him at all if there was a chance he could still be good enough to improve the team because of a slight dog. He was the same person who called Bill a jerk. I don't think that gave Bill one second of pause about signing him in 2014. The jerk statement and the statement in 2015 are on the same level of trivial.
