OT: Huge Discrepancy in Diggs' Playing Time (Update 9/12: The NFL Finally Corrected It)

Diggs blew out his knee halfway through game eight last year… he shouldn’t even be on the active roster right now.

We’re complaining he isn’t playing enough?

Diggs started to affect the game in the 2nd half... which is ironically when we went cold.
I hope there's no correlation.

Either way, he needs to get a lot more snaps this week. Much less of Hollins.
And start working Williams in a few more - just for some deep shots to keep D honest, which we didn't do at all.
Diggs does NOT need more reps. 56% of the reps on Offense is enough for someone coming back from a severe injury. After all, many of us thought that he'd start on the PUP list. Boutte (82% of snaps) and Henry (93% of snaps) are Maye's primary targets for now. Our top four WR's were all in the game more than 1/2 the time which is good IMO. Perhaps Douglas was used too much (63%).

Diggs, Boutte, Douglas, Hollins are all capable of intermediate and deep shots downfield to keep the Defense honest. The fault for having no long shots depends on whether you believe that the OL was giving Maye enough time.

Reasonably, Williams is being brought along slowly. Given his camp and pre-season, I don't expect to see him have a major role for a few games, but it is good that they are giving him a few opportunities.

Fans often do want players to come back to 100% of reps too quickly. And when the player is injured, they are the first to say that he shouldn't have been playing as many reps.

I was somewhat surprised to see Diggs get as many reps as he did. Of course, that was a result of having no running game. All the receivers should have had fewer reps, except perhaps for Boutte and Henry.

I have a radical theory. I think the NFL has dumped this mundane task on an unpaid intern that's bored out of their minds half paying attention to the game film while scrolling on their phone.
Nothing radical about it. They have a roomful of green trolls that are never allowed out of the room that are doing the tabulation. Nobody expects them to be right.

Hollins needs to not be on the field.
WR reps should be something like
Diggs 85%
Boutte 85%
Douglas 65%
Williams 40%
Chism should be active
Hollins should be inactive until we need the spot for a different position and then released.

No one has ever blamed being injured on getting too much playing time.
If you are in shape you are either healthy enough to play or you aren’t.
The only reason to reduce snaps is if you are not in shape or have an injury that allows you to do some things but not others, which is rare.

I want to say that Douglas should be ahead of Boutte or at least closer to equal but you had the better read on Boutte in camp and hopefully Boutte just continues to build off this momentum. We need them both to be good and we probably need at least one of them to be better than that.

And I'm still afraid there going to continue to force Hollins on us.

I rewatched the game without an angry lens lol and Diggs is always open. From the very 1st drop back that Maye scrambled on, Diggs was open immediately. On the majority of the passes that Boutte caught(and they were the right decision by Maye imo), Diggs was open as well. If Diggs is healthy, I'm in favor of just feeding him nonstop.

Minus some horrible short yardage plays, our offense is closer than I previously thought. Also, Hollins does nothing for me at the moment.

He'd be cooked by Halloween

Usually players who get knee surgery take a full season to return to form. He’s out there way too early as it is.

More importantly… if Drake completed all the missed throws to receivers who were wide open they would have blown the doors off the Raiders. The receivers were open, they did their jobs… it wasn’t the receivers.

Always. For whatever reason, Maye decided to throw into double and triple coverage all day.

The league finally corrected Diggs' and Hollins' snap totals:

They do match what I have, so those numbers are apparently fluid. I've obviously never counted them previously, so definitely interesting.

Career wise he's been a nothing WR in this League.

If Pop Douglas has another bad day; we are going have to sit Him. He shouldn't be that bad on 45 snaps.

Would like to see Diggs get 58 Snaps this week minimum. I'm sure Mike Vrabel is trying to win.
