OK, I've read enough
Here is the thing. There a few facts that we all agree with. First that Aaron Rodgers is a fabulous QB. All the attributes that Freeman (scumbag) points are true and give proof to the fact that
1. Aaron Rodgers might be one of the most gifted passers in history
2. The combination of his passing sklils AND athleitic mobility is probably unparalleled
3. He's a very smart player who can make big plays without making big mistakes.
All these things are true. There are 30 teams that would sell their souls at the chance to have him play on their team. The other 2 are the Packers who have him, and the Pats who don't need him.
HOWEVER the flaw in Freeman's (scumbag) theory is he fails to include ALL of the attributes that has to go into the GOAT, and fails to make the distinction between the physical skills of a great QB, and all the OTHER things that need to go into it.
1. He has a proven record of making his teammates better (just ask Reche Chaldwell and Troy Brown) but not just the receivers
2. His leadership can lift his teammates
3. His force of will can overcome obstacles
IMO it is hard to measure a QB's worth strictly on the results of one game, any more than merely compiling stats makes Peyton Manning the GOAT. That's because it's so antithetical to the most impartant aspect of the game. The game is much more about the team than the individual. Tom Brady hasn't won a single superbowl, but clearly contributed to more than any other in history. If you just count superbowls then Terry Bradshaw is one of the 3 best QB's in all times, despite the fact he played in an era with less competition, He played on a team that was on steriods, and loaded with HOFer's. His skill level was never more than good, and he wasn't even the focus of his offense.
No one in their right mind with include Bradshaw in a list of the top 10 QB's of all time. Neither would Terry. You see it's not just the rings that make Brady the greatest, its what he added to the team to get them. things like his leadership, drive, will, and commitment. No great QB did more to lift his team to higher levels. That's why Brady could do the things he did without great receivers, HOF RB's etc. He made the players like Givens, Brown and Branch.....good enough. He helped craft them until they ALL could reach elite levels TOGETHER for that year.
When you think of it. unlike Rodgers, Brady is a completely self made player. He's had on 2 advantages in his career. Those are to play for BB, the other is to be in one basice system for his entire career.
I only bring all this out is because Brady can NEVER compare to Aaron Rodgers. physically and as an athlete. That's just a fact. However the mind is an even more important aspect to a QB's success, and in THAT area, Rodgers isn't in Brady's category. There are some things that Rodgers is better than Brady, but in the areas of Leadership, teamwork building, and mental toughness Rodgers can't compare, and the end result is that Brady's skills are more important to winning than even Rodger's prodigious physical skills
We see the end results best in the playoffs where the games are the most competitive and the adversity is at it's worst. It's in THOSE games where Brady shows his greatness, and not just his skill.
