If I'm the niners I'd be trying to see if I can keep Jimmy G another year. He's not "elite" but has shown he can at least win games. Lance is an unknown and now coming off an injury. If Jimmy leaves next year and lance looks like a bust, coaching staff could be on the hot seat

They could try to keep him... But it doesn't say much about their faith in Trey Lance if he's still around next year... And after giving up all those picks? Yeesh what an ugly look

Probably abit of both. Team has shown they can win with Jimmy so why not. Also Lance is still a big unknown. Also takes pressure off Jimmy who can just manage the game more.

Massive overpay by the niners. But I think shanahan/lynch are making this move to try and save their job.

Good move by the Panthers to get picks which are huge for a rebuilding team. Look at the Patriots last two drafts. Some good picks can transform a team.

Lance will have Deebo, Kittle and McCaffrey around him next year. If he can’t produce with that in year 3 then he’s a huge bust.

This also makes me wonder what the price is for DJ Moore. His contract minus the signing bonus (which would stay with Carolina) is pretty good for a WR1. The Pats have a lot of question marks at WR after this season and even further after next season.

Looks like we’re gonna have 3 picks in the top 65 Next season. if we can knock those out of the park, this team could be a contender with a young core group of players, much sooner then most of us believed. Not hard to think we could get quality players at OT, CB, WR, or LB with those picks.

Niners will look like absolute fools to re-sign Jimmy on a multi-year deal after giving up multiple firsts for Lance. And I doubt Jimmy will go back to SF for anything less than multiple years. There is a market for him elsewhere and there will ESPECIALLY be a market for him elsewhere if he goes on a deep run this year.
