Re: Chiefs VS SD game thread

I've been saying all offseason that the Chiefs are going to surprise people. Football Outsiders projecting them as a playoff team just strengthened my resolve in the prediction. They have real talent at all of the positions where you need it..

Wild Card, #6 seed sounds about right for them.

Re: Chiefs VS SD game thread

Way to go, Matty Cassel.

Re: Chiefs VS SD game thread

Damn, this crowd has me pumped.

Re: Chiefs VS SD game thread

Hell yeah, Matty Ice! Man, I'm pumped for the Chiefs, they're my #2 favorite team for sure. Right ahead of the Saints.

Did the spiking penalty get repealed or did the refs all just decide to start ignoring it one year after it passed?

KC can actually win this division, lol

I think they have a decent shot at winning the AFCW, honestly. Vincent Jackson being out doesn't bother me, but the Chargers could be screwed without McNeil.

I also love the athleticism that the chiefs have on D. Jackson, Dorsey, Hali, Johnson, Studebaker, Berry... that's some legit talent.

that TD was so weiss..vrabel lined as TE,play action TD. reminded me of the old days with fauria and vrabel catching easy TDs

you sure? I see they added a double row of luxury boxes - im sure there are some suited chuckleheads in there eating their cheese and brie :--)

Re: Chiefs VS SD game thread

that should have been a penalty, the ball was on its second bounce when teh hit came

Re: Chiefs VS SD game thread

I'm just happy to see two of my binkies, McCluster and Moeaki, produce valuable yardage and touchdowns on that short touchdown drive. Way to go, Cassel! Keep it up.

KC seems like the Pats baby brother these days. I'm definitely rooting for them.

(And I wish we'd taken Charles over Wheatley. Imagine the fireworks in that offense!)

Re: Chiefs VS SD game thread

Wow, a Dorsey sighting...

Re: Chiefs VS SD game thread

I like the new looks of the Kansas City Patriots. Their D has a new swagger.

Re: Chiefs VS SD game thread

Vrabel was traded shortly before he would have been due a multimillion-dollar roster bonus. The Patriots weren't going to pay him that money, and would have cut him if they hadn't traded him. It was never about him vs. Ninkovich or Woods or anyone else- it was about his salary vs. re-signing Wilfork, Brady, Mankins, Gost, and, as it turned out, Bodden. Vrabel's one of my all-time favorite Pats, but it was the right move

I'm sorry, I'm not convinced. Think of all the money and picks we wasted trying to fill that position since he left, Burgess especially. I can understand trying to get better because Vrabel was losing it (he was). I assume the plan was to be better than Ninkovich at that position.

In hindsight, a bad move--both production wise, leadership, and also resources expended (draft picks on Burgess).

At the time, I admit I didn't like it because I didn't think Vrabel was totally done, but I understood the Pats were trying to get better at that position.

Re: Chiefs VS SD game thread

Man, this crowd is insane. I've never seen a Pats crowd thsi fired up.

Re: Chiefs VS SD game thread

Wow KC looks much better this year. The way they are running over SD they could very well win the west

Except they were going to cut him anyways. How is it a bad move to get something for nothing? And Burgess wasn't an OLB, really: he was a situational pass-rushing DE in formations with four down linemen. He very rarely played at OLB. You can choose to believe that trading him immediately before he was due a roster bonus was a coincidence, but that doesn't change reality.

BTW, Vrabel's probably going to lose his starting job to Andy Studebaker in the near future. I love the guy, but he's not the player that he used to be. No shame in it, everyone ages.
