He is not in the thread anymore so perhaps we can let it go ... thx.

I give up.

What Ross said...clearly you have an issue and despite my attempts to try and discuss this, it's not working. I don't know what else to tell you.

Ian, you are far too nice and patient a human being..........

.

Almost as good as the NEM threads ... newer members would love those.

NEM was before my time I think. I only hear scattered whispers. I agree, probably would have enjoyed them.

I see that some have been deleted now, only after I mentioned it. And no, Ian did not ask me to accept people personally attacking me. I believe he asked me to let go the past targeting that had occurred, which I have.
"Only after I mentioned it"?? Dude, any offending post has been deleted within a couple minutes of its creation in this thread. You're really not helping your case or winning any kind of support here. It's kind of screwed up to have to say it in a thread literally about the rules and how things become removed, but you're really de-railing this thread with this stuff, so... connect the dots... please let it go as Ian has requested (more than once).

Edit: Lol, nevermind looks like you've been removed already... guess my (second) warning following Ian's and Icy's multiple requests was too late. At least we can drop that dialogue now.

On Facebook, I have some friend-of-a-friend, not sure where I got him, who loves to post specifically Jewish humor. I actually asked him once, and he's married to a Jewish woman. I don't know whether he converted, who knows.

Most of the time he's just being funny. Then today he starts a very right-wing post, the usual stuff about terrible libtards etc. He's got a Trumpist Jewish following with exactly the same attitude as the Nazi wannabes (and used a lot of the JDL type rhetoric and tough guy talk -- also, a staple of right-wing Jews here and in Israel, were calling me a kapo, again, because we disagreed.)

Basically ended up blocking 3 of these clowns once they started showing signs of looking up **** about me and saying they wanted to fist-fight me (so the "which emoticon is appropriate" question above cracked me up.)

So thats what I was seeing on my usually sedate facebook page before coming here. It's like all the internet tough guys are on one phone tree, or are picking up signals like "Hey being a faux mobster is COOL now, I always KNEW that people going to college and learning words was a way of keeping me down!"

Who F*in needs it, ya know?

The internet is used for too much ugliness and hatred ... it's terrible.

Amazing how in the last four years ignorance has become a virtue.

Here’s what happens when that gets taken to its endpoint. Hint: nobody will ever be praised for stuff like this. Fitting given today’s tragedy...

A Twitter argument over Kobe Bryant led someone to drive toTemecula on Christmas to fight

Question for mods: when other users invite you to drive to their house so they can fight you, what is the appropriate rating to give them? I’m torn between “useful”, “funny”, or “genius”.
"Love", it really throws them off their game.

Well f***

I literally work in IT which makes this especially embarrassing

“Where’s the unread button?”

you looking for a fight, PFiVA? OK, I'm your huckleberry....but first, what IS that on your shoe?

Sorry to hear this story. I got off of Facebook (I think my profile still exists so my wife can tag me) when it got really stupid. So many dumbasses on there just waiting to come out of the woodwork to gang up on someone who doesn’t share their opinion. I consider myself politically in the middle, or not in agreement with the left or right, on a lot of issues and found that 1-on-1 conversations between me and a friend would quickly grow like a bacterial virus. There were a bunch of debate superheroes disguised as normal people with very enlightened views. So many people who, just by their Facebook page, you can tell have nothing going for them, often just flat our losers in every measurable way, acted like they were saving the world and I missed the calling. This was from both the left and right.

Also - because I see this a lot. If you post something and then go "oh crap, I shouldn't have posted that" and edit it, or clear it out and save it, or hit "delete", your post is still saved and I can see each version of it. So if you post something bad and at least have the state of mind to remove it, that's at least a good thing. But if I have to call you out on it, please don't deny you did/said it because it's still there

I haven't posted in a couple of days. What the HECK did I miss here?

Yeah man, WTH is up with that? We were deplorable back when the definition was being a Pats fan during Kiam's ownership of the team. You know, when it really meant something damn it! I too am bitter at the thought of how our word was usurped. In fact I am going to have to pour a few fingers of chilled CR Special Reserve just to calm my azz down.

Come on man. There's something to be said about "don't do what would destroy the board if everybody did it." From time to time, it's not "those sensitive crybabies" that are the problem.
Yeah -- the fallacy of composition is an overlooked thing on message boards (as it often is elsewhere). People will often justify something with "me doing that was no big deal". That may even be true, but when lots of people do it makes the place suck, so the mods have to take actions to discourage lots of people from doing it even if the action seems to be a bit overkill when viewed in the context of that one person doing it.
