Oh look, our next opponent is in worse disarray than we are!

The voice of Authoritative Pessimism once again offers his 2-cents of cold wet towel to hopeful discourse. :bricks:

I'm sorry. Are you unclear on the definition of disarray?

Certainly it could be worse, but the Chicken Littles, WILL create a reason to cry Doom, even manufacture it, if necessary. A record of 2-0 yielding 12 ppg by the Defense merits absolute, utter DISPAIR...

The Jets obviously thought they could go vertical and the throws were open several times but Geno couldn't hit them.

To be fair to Geno, it didn't help that he had Gates trying to match Dobson drop for drop.

You gotta admit that with all the drops/misses/etc the Pats/Jets game looked an awful lot like any NFL Pro-Bowl game.

I'm even more concerned about this game than before after seeing them hold their opponent to a very low score 2 weeks in a row, only to lose on a last second FG once again.

The Bucs stopped the high powered offense of Drew Brees and co, holding them to a 0/4 red zone success rate. That has to be somewhat concerning considering the fact that Brees and co actually have some viable WR's and outlets to throw the ball to.

This game has the makings of an upset in my opinion, although obviously I hope I'm way off...

They are 0-2, desperate, and have their backs to the wall. Revis is back, Goldson's suspension was overturned, and the defense has definitely been showing up nicely this season. They lead the NFL in red zone defense, having stopped a total of 5/6 of their opponents attempts at TD's so far this year.

Let's hope OUR defense can continue to put the offense in a good position, and that the offense shows some very nice improvement.

As if Steve Gregory is any better.

I didn't remember hearing about it during joint practices when they occurred earlier in the summer, but I've seen a couple of beat writers who have claimed that VJax gave our secondary all they could handle last month when the Bucs were here for a few days.

As we know, he's been historically very good against us, so I'd imagine that he'll have his way a a handful of plays for sure. Hopefully we can try and limit those completions and keep him out of the endzone, but it all makes me rather concerned.

I think Gregory has been having a decent year so far, even though it's a limited sample of two games.

He's got to be better than Brown and Chung though. Those 2 were awful.

Either way, let's hope he shows up Sunday and continues to have a good year.

Based on what criteria?

Pass Defensed - 1
Forced Fumbles - 0
Interceptions - 0

Box scores do not tell you all that much in assessing an NFL players performance..

You conveniently left out that he is the second leading tackler on this team...

Back to the original point of this thread, never thought that this team was in disarray...

He has honestly played the run very well this year too. Surprising for a guy that looked like one of the worst tacklers in the NFL when the Patriots signed him.

Glass half full: if the Bucs are able to stop a good offense the Pats are probably better prepared to win this game than they would've been in previous seasons, no?

I thought it was a Pass, Punt and Kick competition with the emphasis being on punting, lol...

Isn't Glennon the backup who came in for Freeman in the preseason game? I thought he looked good, really good, in that game. Played against our 2nds, but he impressed me more than Freeman did.

And so it continues.

For the entire season, his play (and that of Arrington) matter not at all. Patsfans posters have made their decision and will consider all they do in that context.

Gregory and Arrington have played very well. They have arguably played as well as Talib and McCourty. They do not need to be that effective to be important parts of our defense. We will not lose games because of Gregory and Arrington.

Yes, I would have liked for us to sign an additional quality safety in the off-season. Belichick thought he did in A Wilson. DI warned us that he wasn't much; we didn't listen. We should have more than Harmon and Wilson as backups, but a 2nd and 3rd rounder is really a lot to spend on backups.

The bottom line is satisfied with the pair of safeties that we have. They will imporve as they play together longer (they played together for only part of last season).

We all expect Gregory to be waived after the season because of his salary next year. Hopefully, we will find better for the money, or he'll stay.

As if Steve Gregory is any better.
