People keep saying BB knows Stid sucks and isn't better than Cam. But that has nothing to do with why Cam is the starter. BB knows veteran leadership is more important after the GOAT left this offense rudderless. Cam has more experience and confidence, and is a great people person. However, as his confidence wanes, as his production implodes, things might be changing... we'll see in the next few weeks. NO ONE can deny how horrendously inconsistent he's been. A few good ropes to Meyers per game, and a bunch of ridiculous head scratchers.

This is alot of assumption when there is a much simpler answer. Cam came to training camp and instantly beat out someone who had a year of experience in the system and Bill is seeing the same thing in practice that we see when Stidham has taken the field. If it was just about experience, there was very little reason not to make the move. Bill typically goes with whoever he thinks gives him the best chance to win.

If you had read the RULEBOOK, it clearly states they changed it for this year. It's the first time I've heard that it was changed. The way it's worded now, players are committing this penalty on every running play when they turn sideways to be parallel to their goal. This is especially true for WRs who turn so that the CB's back is toward the sideline.

What Jennings did is NOT a blindside block because the player could see him the entire way. And it certainly wasn't a crackback block (per the Gamebook) as a crackback requires the players to be within 5 yards of the LOS. A blindside block is supposed to be when a player is hit from their blindside during something like a fumble return. It was first put in because of a play where a defensive linemen leveled a QB and put him out for the year during a fumble return I believe. The QB wasn't remotely in the play and was hit on his non-throwing side. Hence the term "BLINDSIDE" Block.

Yeah his passing numbers were pedestrian for an MVP.

Not as much of a joke as Manning getting MVP in 2008. His number weren’t far off from Brady’s season last year and nobody serious would say brady had an MVP season last year.

Rodgers fell to 24. It was considered the most shocking drops in 20 years as he was projected to possibly go number 1 overall.
Once he didn't, not many teams after the Niner's needed a QB. However he was so good that a team that had Brett Farve still decided to go grab him and cause a controversy. He was probably the biggest draft drop in at least 30 years. Brady is the most prolific QB to come out of the 6th round. In fact you have to go back to the pre Super Bowl days to find someone drafted as late as Brady who was an elite franchise QB.

Do you really want to bet on two historic outlier situations and make team building decisions based on that? Or do you want to go by historical trends that suggest you have the best chance of drafting a franchise QB at the top of the first round and your odds rapidly decrease the further away you get? It's just not the most pragmatic way to do it. It's very easy to say "oh the draft's a crapshoot". But you either keep picking high in the draft or pray you get exceptionally lucky. The truth is, most of us will likely be dead before another elite QB comes out the 5th or later rounds.

Cam was a beast until a couple years ago, but he's the anti clutch. 2015 SB was pretty horrific, and we're finding out the hard way this year too lol Luck also seemed to disappear in his road playoff games (did fine in the dome IIRC).

the passing #'s weren't great but unless I'm remembering wrong he had an incredible season overall and the Panthers almost went undefeated. Think the MVP was well deserved, but overshadowed IMO by that Super Bowl.

Luck was pretty darn good the last couple years he was healthy. He retired at a weird time.

He was unreal that year. The sad thing for him was he ran into the Broncos in the SB.

So the last thing people remember was him having a statline of:

18/41, 43.9%, 6.5 average, 0TD, 1INT, 55 passer rating

or was it

27/56, 48.2%, 5.5 average, 1TD, 2INT, 56.4 passer rating.

I can't tell, one of those stat lines was Tom Brady in the AFCCG against the same team two weeks prior.

Cam was actually really good in 2018. Then he got injured and they rushed him back for 2 games in 2019 and decided he was still hurt and never should have come back. Unfortunately think it all derailed him too much and missing some time after Covid undid any progress he had been making. Feel bad for him
