Game Day Thread Official Pre Game Thread- Pats @ Dolphins

THIS IS OUR LIVE GAME DAY THREAD:

This is where we gather to follow things on Game Day. Obviously, emotions tend to be high so if anyone gets a little crazy, the use of the “Mute” button is encouraged on anyone who may be annoying to you to control your experience and to allow the moderators to also enjoy the game.

At the same time, please take a deep breath before over-reacting for the sake of making this a pleasant experience for everyone.

Lastly, we have never allowed promoting the use of any illegal streaming. This is illegal and will be enforced by copyright holders, which puts this site at risk. DO NOT POST ANY LINKS to those platforms.

This also means, there absolutely cannot be any mention these platforms, spaces, special characters, etc. - so do not get creative in trying to work around this request.

If you do you will have your account suspended.

I do not have the means to deal with legal issues and have already been contacted previously, so this absolutely needs to be adhered to. If you see any illegal links, please report them so a mod can remove them.

Not a deep position.

This is good actually. To make a run in the playoffs one of the most important things would be to have Hightower at his best, playing like 2016-2019 level. The week off may make that more likely. They have always taken greater advantage of his versatility and strengths in the post season game planning.

Hopefully not but I expect they'll let him test the market, and some team will overpay for the "name" - he'll take the money and look over the hill, and get cut in a year.

Then come back to NE in '23 on the cheap.
That shipped sailed. He only got peanuts from Pittsburgh the last time he was a FA.

They need to move on from HT and get more athletic at LB.

I sure hope not but my gut tells me he'll retire.

He has more wear and tear than his age suggests because of the way he plays and especially his responsibilities in the running game in a nickel base.

Hightower and Dugger are out . The Dolphins if smart can run 200 yards against crappy Godchaux and Bentley. The biggest weakness on this Pats defense.

I think Hightower is routinely underrated in the league. College champion and 3 time NFL champion. Superman goal line stop in the Seahawks Superbowl and they don't come back in the Falcons Superbowl unless he comes up ultra clutch with the Matt Ryan strip fumble at exactly the right time. Hightower is on my all time Patriots list. The guy is so good even when his total stats aren't eye popping.

if they need to upgrade then get rid of crappy sieve Bentley. The vets have been playing well.

Dolphins can’t run the ball.

That was a long time ago. He’s not the same player as he was then.

Bentley should be a reserve. I’d love to see Bill get a true East West LB.

Ideally they need to upgrade both in the off season. Hightower is definitely not the same player he was 4-5 years ago. He still makes some plays because of his veteran experience but he is sloooooow.

Bentley’s never been anything more than a serviceable JAG…easily replaceable once the new guy is up to speed with the playbook.

Exactly. He came back for the $10m and has played hard. That was his motivator.

If he plays somewhere else next year i'll be shocked.

If he plays here i'll be mildly surprised.

Who will be elevated will be determined by who practices better this week. Its as simple as that.

I guess this is where I was looking for some rules clarifications. Players can only be elevated twice for free off the PS. After that, they need to be signed to the 53 man roster if you want them to play. The caveat is that Covid elevations (I'm not sure how they determine whether someone was elevated due to Covid or just in general), don't count towards that two. Wilkerson was elevated the past two weeks if I'm not mistaken, so my question is a two parter:

A) Were both of those elevations general ones (meaning he's out of them), or was one a Covid elevation (leaving him eligible for this week)?

B) If A is the latter, who are you cutting from the 53 so you can play your preferred 4th WR in a week where his skillset may not impact the gameplan that much?

I don’t think he came back for money I think he came back because he loves football. I think he’ll keep playing until the wear and tear is too much, that he can’t play at his level, and I think that day isnt far away.
I feel he has taken the beating and hits at the level of 37 year old 15 year veteran.

Wow... those 15 years went by fast.

I’m saying he played 9 but the style of play caused him to take the beating of 15 years compared to a typical lb.

Of course. I think to play for the NEP you have to love the game so the grind doesn't seem like work. Point is $10m makes the sacrifice worth it
