What a throw by Brissett.

I still don't think Lucien makes it, but he is making a late case for himself.

I would rather him over some of those players on D.

Eh, I just don't see what he does well enough to move the needle against pro-caliber defenders. He reminds me of Chris Harper: good enough to flash against the 60th-90th guys on a pre-cutdown roster, good enough to stick on someone's practice squad, but the second you put him in an NFL game you find that he doesn't do any one thing well enough to consistently win matchups.

If it's down to him or Austin Carr, give me Carr without a second thought. Carr doesn't do as many things as well as Lucien does, but the things he does well he does well enough that I think he has a chance to win matchups more reliably against better defenders.

It's a general principle that I think translates across all sports to varying extents. It's better to do one thing exceptionally well by pro standards than do a bunch of things pretty well by level-below-pro standards. The latter guy probably doesn't do anything well enough to be better than an end-of-the-bench guy. But if you're elite at one thing, there's a role for you at the highest level.

It'll be a minor miracle if it's not a torn ACL. It looked like that's what they diagnosed on the field, and false positives are pretty rare.
Agree. He's done

Fauria picks Freeny? What game is he watching?

Yeah, this game thread has been fun. Take note of the people who were freaking out over Brissett in this thread, file their names away, and proceed to disregard every opinion they ever express from this point forward. You won't miss out on anything of value.

Not saying he's a slam dunk or a sure thing or anything at all like that. The odds are against him making any significant impact as an NFL player, because of course they are. But he had a pretty good night that demonstrated his improvement as a thrower. He's still not ready to start an NFL game: the consistency's not there yet and it won't come until he gets the reps to develop it. But he's made a lot of progress since this time last year; certainly enough to be optimistic. He did exactly what you hope a backup-caliber QB with lots of room to improve will do against this level of competition.

We need a punt returner...is David Putney available?

Except Lucien gets better separation on man coverage than Carr, and he's way more of a deep threat. Lucien looks like he can take it to the house. Carr lacks physical tools, his 20 yard shuttle is nowhere near what a 09 Edelman was. Don't know if he could ever become a good NFL slot WE

I think Lucien got hurt.

Ok time to admit Lucien has the most potential out of any WRs playing today. He's gotten better separation on man coverage than any receiver today
On Brissett's running TD, Lucien had his guy beat running across the back of the end zone.

You see that Lucien told him high and outside
