While this is true, it's really difficult to put a ton of blame on Stevenson.

To quote Jim Mora, "We didn't run the ball, we didn't try to run the ball." The Raiders were ready to get run over, the Patriots just didn't bother. I can't believe the plan was to have Maye throw 50 times, but it wasn't just when they were behind. They threw and threw a lot, even after it was clear Maye's decision making was...well, lacking. His performance today can be summed up on one play. The ridiculous Hunter Henry catch, when Maye laced it between two defenders. Stephon Diggs was *uncovered* 8 yards down the field, on the same side of the field. This isn't a 'hey look at this guy on the other side of the field away from the play', this was your 25 million dollar receiver completely uncovered, and Maye either missed him or ignored him, to make a hero play. That was Drake Maye today.
The tapes should make Vrabel and McDaniels sick.

Douglas had that drop but other than that what was he supposed to do? Gotta wait for the all 22 but given how terrible Maye was, i have a hard time ****ting on the receivers. Anyway, Chism needs to be in there and Williams needs to be used, period. And im not even sure i would dress Stevenson next week at this point.
Not sure what the game plan was, and im sure the fact they couldnt run the ball affected it, but you have to adapt.

People ****ting on Pop Douglas yes: he that drop but Maye missed Him wide open in the Slot. Ray Charles could have completed that how wide open he was. Maye is terribly inaccurate at times not a good recipe for a young QB.
Douglas was invisible for most of the game. He had a bad drop and almost dropped the TD. Chism should play over him next week

Again, it wasn't 'they couldn't run the ball'. They didn't try.

I agree they did throw a lot but cmon man..they coudnt even get a couple of yards for a 1st down. It was atrocious.
They didn't try to run the ball. In no universe, under any circumstances, should this be an 80% pass team. They were yesterday. It's not like they were down 30, they were ahead or within 1 score most of the game.

How many times did they run the ball on successive plays yesterday? How many times did they throw 3 times and punt? You want to know why the defense sucked in the 4th quarter, it's because they were on the field the whole 2nd half.

It's like the coaches thought they had one kind of team, and they have another entirely. Sort of like they believed all the hype from the preseason.

14 carries, one was by a WR. I don't count Drake Maye's Bledsoe-speed 2 yard slides.
We are desperate I would settle for Maye being Drew Bledsoe right now: Just get him weapons. Maye is playing just like Mitchell Trubiski: we can hope that's not his ceiling.

Trubisky, but with cement overshoes. Seriously, why was he so slow?

Again, i agree with that. But the few times they ran the ball it was completely ineffective. I dont know, so many things went wrong, and i agree a lot of it wasnt the players.
If anyone showed me this game and told me mayo was the coach i would've believed it.

FTR: Stevenson doesn't impress me: he's not a very good RB period. Rham runs like a Big J Hasty clueless with no vision or power behind the LOS garbage.
.

Because he was thinking too much. Last year he ran instinctively without thinking about protecting himself. Yesterday he ran thinking about protecting himself too much.

And they want him to remain a passer as much as possible when scrambling. So I think there are times where is still looking to pass instead of really taking off.

Right now he is thinking too much while scrambling

Maye is thinking too much running over a mile for one positive yard pathetic.

Stevenson is awful. Can’t convert a short yardage run to save his life. At least 2 drives died because he couldn’t convert two 3rd & 1.

I hate to make this comparison already but Zach Wilson had a lot of the exact same issues Maye is having right now with sailing throws and turnovers. Just saying. If Allen is an example of the payoff for a raw QB, Wilson is the “payoff” the other way.

All I know is Maye has a lot of work ahead of him and so do the coaches. Head scratcher why he sat out the Giants preseason game.
For me sb1 my guy I'm not going to overreact.. Drake made some big throws in the first half putting the team in scoring position.. it's a tale of two halves basically.. he knows the game was on him.. the defense played well enough to win without gonzo.

We going to know shortly if Vrabel is good HC or not. Saw some Mayo like things yesterday I'm going to chalk it up to PSD.

It’s the same stuff as last year. Crap the bed when you need him to put the game away.

10-7 coming out of the half. Get a TD drive there and the game is basically over. Instead Maye as usual when you need a big drive from him he throws a pick and give the momentum and the game away. It’s uncanny how he is consistently able to do that

People saying we shouldn't use T Henderson as a Bell/Cow RB keep dreaming. Have they seen Rham try to run?? Don't judge T Henderson against the Almighty: just him against the alternatives.

I hate agreeing with you, but this is exactly what happened.

Henderson was 5 for 27. That's pretty effective.
