On that first clip, a nice play by Farmer, but focus on Tonga.
- gets double teamed
- rebounds and flies out wide to continue to attack, gets picked up by another guy.
- disengages from that guy to get closer to the QB, picked up by a 4th guy (one of the original double teamers)
- QB able to step up and run past him.
- Doesn’t give up, turns around, runs up after the QB
- Trips up QB from behind leading to the tackle.

This is exactly the type of guy you want on the team.

(That 2024 draft is...something)

I haven't read through all 22 pages in this thread but I thought the coach on both sides of the ball was not good. The defense although not as bad as the offense never really adjusted well to how quick Rattler was getting rid of the ball and played a soft coverage that allowed them to dink and dunk up and down the field and get points. Olave was absolutely killing us I dont know why they didnt have Gonzo on him the entire game.
I believe the reason for this was the Patriots were giving them the underneath in the middle of the field because the Saints have some serious speed on the outside, take that away and invite them to dink and dunk their way down the field.

Damn, that was a decent play design if they had anyone who could have executed it
Outside of maybe Campbell (maybe) that was a horrific showing by everyone assigned a block, that was an absolute disaster. Like a Jete level of ineptitude on display there. We can only hope when that clip comes up in the film room they all feel sick to their stomachs watching it
Actually if you break it down it Stevenson was supposed to go inside of onwenus trap block , with Henry as a lead blocker. Wilson and Campbell i
doubled and Wilson slipped off to get the LB but didn’t.
If Bradburys man hadn’t blown it up, Stevenson would have cut it up behind 71 with Henry as a lead blocker. The rest of the blocking wasn’t bad but when a ball carrier is met 4 yards in the backfield and has to run fir his life he’s just running trouble.

You're in Philly, so I'm sure you know that the NFL front office keyed in on the Patriots in the 2017 Super Bowl. The front office puts the finger on the scales all the time. We know this for a fact. I strongly suspect they were told to watch Diggs and OPI PRIOR to the game.
I think thats exactly how i think it would work. In a weekly meeting the refs are told to watch out for a particular foul by the team or player. The league office would Never directly tell the refs to put they're thumb on the scale. I think they steer teams into the most lucrative matchups. Because its all about ratings and money.

a couple of thoughts on stuff I read the last couple of pages.

1. The stat that we are facing a high percentage of 8 man fronts was revealing. NO ONE runs the ball well against 8 man fronts. It's simply a numbers game. That doesn't mean you can't have success against 8-man fronts, but it's hard to do consistently and explains to SOME degree the issues we have had in the run game. I agree that as the success of the passing game gets noticed, teams will HAVE to go to more 7-man fronts at a higher percentage, perhaps creating more run production.

I Personally find the PFF grades useful. They are by no means gospel, but they are decent INDICATORS of individual success. If you understand that the grader is making some of his decisions without all the info needed to be sure of perfect grade, you can use those grades to get a feel for how a player is doing.

It is comforting to know that Campbell is graded consistently high and I am not perturbed to see Wilson graded so low. He is a rookie playing out of position next to another rookie. Mistakes will be made. So far he's been decent on pass protection and that should be good enough... for NOW. In my ideal world next year Wallace will be ready to be an upgrade and move into the LG slot while Wilson will be an upgrade to Bradbury who becomes a quality backup. While the OL has been a pleasant surprise in its overall effectiveness. It needs to get better next year.

Since the day he was drafted Ive been rooting for him knowing his potential. So many idiotas here projected him to not make the 53. Offer him up in trade deals regularly. Dude was a 5 star LSU recruit and had some hiccups. Something no one seams to remember. Give him an extension now like I said last week. A walking first down.
I agree with you and have also been a Booty supporter. Only critique of your post is the use of hiccups. Hiccups make it sound like little oopsies, but he had an ankle fracture that required 2 surgeries. He has said that he is able to play worry free of the ankle and it sounded like this is the 1st time since he has been a pro. He has created a role as THE FIRST DOWN, but I honestly believe he can be more assuming that his speed has returned to pre injury form (I don't think it has, he looks slower).

I wonder if the Pats are working with Marcus Bryant to see if he can develop as the starting RT soon.
As opposed to having him on the team and not working with him?

Sorry that was an easy sarcastic comment.

I will see myself out

Henderson did a good job, but anyone can see that Henderson was not blocking Cam Jordan, a DE. That was Justin Reid, a safety, a much easier blocking assingment. The difference between a DE and Safety is pretty obvious - who is Ben Belford-Peltzman?
He ended up correcting his post.

Yeah I was a little too salty in retrospect. Especially about Onwenu…it’s not his fault that Wolf is a fool and paid him what he did. It IS his fault that he shows up to camp out of shape annually and is STILL 30 lbs min overweight.

Dugger/Stevenson kind of similar in that it wasn’t on them that Wolf wildly overpaid.

But still ticks me off to have $50MM a year tied up in below average to bad players.

That said, they can dump all but Stevenson for cap savings this offseason.

Same for Ellis.

Stevenson would just be a “you have to eat that mistake” situation unless they can somehow restructure him and get him to stop friggin fumbling

It was debunked that Onwenu showed up to camp out of shape. Please stop with the BS claims that such and such a player is over-weight. You have no clue what their weights are..

The fact that you're still blathering about Dugger, who played through an bad ankle injury shows your hang-ups are ridiculous.

For folks complaining about Onwenu, it's worth noting that PFF has him ranked as a near top-decile guard - ranked 12th out of 106 guards overall and top-decile as a pass blocker. I understand that PFF is controversial, but their ranking of OL play is pretty objective and they look at every single snap, not just the bad ones. It's very easy to cherry-pick bad OL snaps and portray them as representative. And he's playing next to a center that was one of the worst pass-blocking centers last year and a right tackle that is on the downhill side of his career.

Onwenu was on his way to returning to his near All-pro self until the NOLA game. There was at least one pass rush he was beaten on and there were 2 different Running plays he got owned. It was a bad game for him. Hopefully he get's his stuff together for next Sunday's game.

Why post this guy, he has no idea what he's talking about.
Buffalo had the 30th ranked run D and Saints had the 17th going into our game.
This guy posts **** that's is so far off the mark, please don't post it here.

He made a mistake and corrected it. He actually is semi-decent.

Ignoring the Pats O-line SUCKING with it's run blocking isn't doing anyone any favors.
