Some are ripping Mac for a bad game. The stats looks great for any starting QB in the league, but yes, he had over a handful of bad plays.
First though, he's a rookie that we've suddenly catapulted him into Brady-like expectations. He made more good than bad, and won the game, and that's incredibly remarkable considering 6 weeks ago NO ONE thought we could beat the Titans, let alone the Browns or Chargers.
He started off with a high throw, and then overthrew several guys throughout (the Henry would-be-TD was a must have). It honestly could be his adjustment to the weather. He's only played in the southeast his whole life, so this weather may take some getting used to.
He threw into coverage ~3 times, with 2 almost-picks. And he took a couple sacks that could have been avoided or better protection calls.
But, those are issues that every franchise QB has almost every week. Brady threw for 232/1TD/1INT/2Sacks today.
Other than 1.5% completion difference, Mac was better in every way. Who's beating up Brady for winning a tight one @IND?
Sure, we had RZ issues. No one likes FG's. But points are points. That's how you win. And Mac helps us win.
Just look at Newton!!
And 3 months ago I would have loved to have JimmyG back in a trade, but now that 49ers are reportedly planning to trade him, I'm thrilled we have Mac instead. This offense is going to continue to grow. Enjoy the ride
