I mean...you can’t not start Zappe now.
Bill will put Mac back in there…..or maybe he will convince him to take more time for the good of the team….really should go with the hot hand

If Jones was running the Zappe offense, no one would be questioning whether he was returning to the starting line up. If you think this is the same offense max Jones was running at the start of the season, you don’t understand football. This is a worlds different of an offense.
So, if Mac keeps running this seasons offense he wont be back.

But, if Mac goes back to the same offense that Zappe is running now he will start again. None of this makes any sense. Mac is better at the Zappe offense and has more experience in it.

This is beginning to look like a mo Lewis kind of moment!

I think we can get a 1st round pick from Atlanta for jones!

Speaking of making sense, let me get this straight. Zappe becomes the first QB in the modern era to have 100+ passing ratings in his first two starts (technically, in his first three games). Yet, you're stating that Mac is better than Zappe at the "Zappe offense"?

It was from the Lazar article last week. But Zappe still had a lot more open receivers and less 50-50 balls than Jones.
Mac had wide open receivers too and decided to throw into INT territory.

Vs the Ravens Harris was all alone on the sideline for an easy 1 down, but Mac forced the ball for a pic.

Three interceptions. I've seen way too many instances of QBs that can get plenty of passing yardage or even touchdowns, but at the expense of throwing far too many interceptions. Mac has been trending in this direction before his bad start this season.

Give me the guy who cares about only stat that matters: the W. Just like Tom in '01.

However, if the kid can keep this up: you gotta go with the hot hand. Besides...look, I'm sure Zappe will someday, eventually have his Brady in Mile High game/moment (and get a bunch of interceptions) and it'll be a great learning experience.

However, as long as he keeps interceptions minimized, and plays smart: I don't see why you wouldn't continue playing him. Especially if he beats Mac out in practice when the time comes.

Jones has been asked to throw deep passes into tight windows. I blame some of Jones’ INTs on the scheme and coaching. He didn’t have an INT problem when they weee managing him like they do Zappe now. The definition of a 50-50 ball is that a defender has just as much ability to make a play on the ball as the receivers.

Some of the INTs were 1,000% on Jones. Others were receivers not fighting for the ball or Patricia asking Jones to make too many high risk throws.

They changed the offense to make it easier and less aggressive. Put Zappe in the offense Max Jones ran the first three weeks and see how he plays. Outside zone running. A vertical passing offense with a lot of 50-50 balls. Make Zappe change the plays at the line more.

They are handling Zappe the way they handled Jones last year not this year.
You're clueless. Zappe was changing the plays at the line all the way back in college. His coaches gave him that freedom because he processed fast. Zappe can make all the throws. The coaches are seeing this and allowing him to pass more. He had 34 attempts today. Mac averaged 32 in his 3 games.

Nothing but excuses from the Doubters: wide open receivers, better OL, easy game plans, he's being handled, blah, blah, blah.

BTW, I see a lot of talk comparing Zappe to Mac's games this season. Here are Mac's stats from the 2021 Bye to this season:

Games: 8
W-L: 2-6
Attempts: 34 per game
Comp %: 62.5%
TD: 10
INT: 12
Sacks: 12

Thoise are not solid numbers for a starter. Mac has not been playing well going back to the end of last season.

Jones made some mistakes, but his receivers were not as open as they were today. The Browns suck.

I said before the Pats have improved and Zappe is benefitting from it. He's also contributing to it. Mac should also benefit from it. If he doesn't then what comes next will be a decision Bill has to make.
If the noise about checking down too much and not being aggressive, or a lack of trust in the game plan was fueling Mac to play outside of his comfort zone, the last two games should provide some perspective. If seeing Zappe win by protecting the ball and following the script does not help Mac, he probably is not the guy.

Good point, why? Is it the coaching and the reps which is making this team better? Bill knows how to make this offense great again? Film room, knowing the playbook. Ok, i agree. Cool Zappe fever for a while.

10 wins. Playoffs

In the OROY conversation. Dan Orlasky says Mac is Elite.

Your boy Zap cant hang with Mac.

Winning 38-15 is not ugly.
At a certain point in the 4th game did get a little ugly if we are being honest…..not putting hands team out there KNOWING that they were going to do onside kick….and we got lucky their player was OB when they touched the ball…that was a huge point where they could have gotten right back in it….it definitely got a little shaky for awhile in 4th

I didn’t realize he was still in college. I am saying how is used now. Sure the Pats don’t let Zappe change plays at the line as much as they did with Jones, but Zappe was awesome at it in college. So let’s give him credit for changing plays he didn’t change this game.

And making excuses for Jones. I don’t care if Jones or Zappe become the QB of the future of this team as long as one of them is a solid starter. That is all I care about. If it is Zappe I will be happy. If it is Jones, I will be just as happy.

I am speaking the truth. They asked too much of Jones early in the season and they have dialed back the offense. Jones could come back and run this offense and suck too and then they move onto Zappe. But we are comparing apples and oranges.

This is nonsense, he ended the 2021 season (while he was being managed) with 8 TD/7 INTs. Not good.

Forget who is going to start next week. The real question is….whom are we going to trade for a high first round pick next offseason, Mac or Zappe?
Mac

I think they put too much trust in Jones early when he and the rest of the offense wasn’t ready for it. And with Hoyer and then Zappe as starters they were forced to dial it back.

Bedard said best on the post game show on 98.5. Patricia should have started the season with the Zappe offense and slowly rolled out the expanded and more aggressive offense they started the season with.

That is how McDaniels used to do it. Start the season more vanilla and get more exotic as the season went along. Even when he had Brady. Although with Brady, the playbook started more advance than he ended the season with Mac.

You're conveniently excluding the end of last season, when he was being "managed." He hasn't gotten any better.

As far as Zappe is concerned, he can read the entire field. He sees it. The NFL game is not too fast for him. Bill said this!!! I trust Bill more than your opinion on this matter.

He was a rookie. Every rookie hits a wall.

Haven’t really seen a true deep ball from him yet that I can think of.
